I signed up for the personal debit card and business debit card at the same time, about 2 months ago. The bonus miles have posted for 10,000, 12,500, and 2,500 - they all say debit card bonus (or something like that). Does anyone know if the business card bonus takes longer to post? I should still have 25k miles, but I'm not sure which card didn't post yet.

Thanks

Does anyone know how difficult would it be for someone else (my sister) to open an account in my name? (I live in Washington DC, and can't find a Chase branch within a couple of hours of me.) Would it require a power of attorney?

open it online.

open it online.

I read a few pages back that the promo code won't work online (the code also explicitly says it has to be redeemed at a branch).

I read that, too. Looking back, I find that I wrote that. I was wrong. Since then, both Mrs. Ispolkom and I have opened accounts long distance. She did it on-line, while I had to talk to a human.

Mine worked fine online.

Yea, they do have some miscues here and there, I've experienced a few over the years too.

A research representative called me yesterday and asked about what happen. She said, "Maybe your Dad will just need to transfer the miles to your account." I responded, "That's not going to work since that will cost me money." Then she said, "Well let's not make assumptions and just see what happens." Did she not just make an assumption about the possibility of needing my Dad to transfer his points? The lady had a very bad attitude.

Got another call today telling me she has to talk to Continental, and it may take a week to respond. Luckily, I don't need to use the points or I'd press the issue harder. I should have just said, "You need to credit my account with the points, and Chase can worry about getting their points back from the other account."

As near as I can tell or recall, two people have reported that they opened their accounts in December 2009, got the bonus in January 2010, tried to open another account this year, and were denied the bonus.

One person says it's based on account opening date.

My question is, has anyone had actual success opening the account in December 2009, getting the bonus in 2010, and then opening another account for another bonus this year?

I'm traveling to Chase country next week, so I'd like to try, but I'm just wondering if anyone has been successful in this scenario.

The fine print specifically says this, which sounds to me like the reward date is the controlling date:

Limit one personal checking account-related reward per customer, per calendar year.

I tried another coupon code and it didn't work either. The branch manager showed me that my previous account was open on Dec. 31, 2009 but their system also shows bonus shipped on 01/10/2010 (maybe the day that I made the debit card transaction). She thought that might be the reason that the system thinks I already took the offer in 2010 instead of 2009. Anyone has similar experience? Thanks a lot.

I called and was told that since I opened the account in December, but the miles didn't post until mid-January, Chase may count that as a 2010 calender year reward. But she also promised to follow up and call me back. We'll see.

The Chase online rep was quite unhelpful, telling me to call the regular Continental 800 number.

I just opened the 2010 accounts. Now that worries me a bit, because my 2009 bonus posted like this:
11/12/2009 - 10,000
12/18/2009 - 25,000
1/1/2010 - 2,500

I would be really mad if they waited until the first day of 2010 to post my final 2009 miles and disqualify me from another run in 2010.

Nothing I can do anyway except for fulfilling the bonus miles requirement and crossing my fingers.

Ha, I do the same thing with the amounts: $1.01 -- $1.05 to keep track of them. I don't do the even $1.00 because that seemed to take longer to post, like some sort of token trial amount as when you use your credit card at a restaurant or gas station, and they see if $1.00 will be approved, then run the real amount later.

I've found I can use the automated pay-by-phone system for my cable company, and do all five transactions in a single phone call while I'm watching TV...takes less than 10 minutes.

It was discussed here... You can just use the card and pay some bills online. I use the card to pay Comcast/T-Mobile/water/whatever you name it five times a month, each time about $1. I do it with $1.01, $1.02, $1.03, etc.. so I can keep track of them. This way you do not have to buy something you don't need, hit the 5 transactions per month, and still receive 5 wooping CO miles from non-pin transactions. For me, it is REALLY easy to take care of the requirement!

Actually, what I didn't say in that post but in fact worries me a bit was how Chase sees these transactions and my account pattern. I have read reports saying they receive phone calls from Chase asking them to stop doing this or they will close out everything and cut off all relationship in the future. I want to build up a "good" and "mutual" relationship with Chase so I could keep the miles coming. So from time to time I will charge something "real" to those debit cards, take out my BA credit card from the drawer and put real charges to it, make a branch deposit, do some EFT, etc, to keep them happy. I am actually researching to "upgrade" my checking accounts to Chase Premier, link it to an active credit card which has at least one charge per billing cycle, get free checks, get ATM fees reimbursed, and get a free safe deposit box, plus to keep Chase happy and extend more offers to me. A good relationship with the banker is key.

I think that's a good idea, to keep a good relationship with the bank.

How long has it taken for the 2,500 miles to post to everyone account? The 10K and 12.5K posted to my account on March 1st, but the 2,500 hasn't and I'm wondering if I need to get on the phone.

Still missing 22.5k miles here

I've called the main number for Chase on my debit card as well as the 877 292 4273 number and I'm told that I will get my issue forwarded to a 'research specialist' and receive a call back in 24 to 48 hours, which I never do. The internet service center person, though the secure message, told me my coupon was finalized on the 23rd of March and I would be receiving my miles in 7-10 business days. I hope that I wake up tomorrow and my OnePass account is 22.5k miles larger. I guess we will see

I'm a little frustrated but I know that I will get the miles, as I have tracking numbers for the coupon code I entered as well as having fulfilled the debit card purchases each and every statement period...just kinda weird that some that have opened accounts online haven't had these issues.

apparently my mileage varied ;)

For me at least, the 2,500 posted a few days after the close of my statement that contained the annual fee for the debit card.
