am looking to open an account (or two), but would like to wait until the next mileathon to maximize miles. looks like there were 2 Mileathons in 2009, any idea if there will be a spring 2010 Mileathon?

I finally got my business 25k bonus to post after more than three months ! Thanks to the advice in this thread, I emailed them and asked them to open a research inquiry. They did that two weeks ago and now the bonus has finally posted.

So you can certainly get both personal and business bonus while having both accounts open simultaneously.

Has anyone emailed Chase to complain about trying to open the business account and having the app fail? Perhaps they don't know about it. Thinking of sending a secure message about it. If someone beats me to it, please let me know what the response was/is.

2 checking accounts

I saw the other thread and downloaded the new coupon, but haven't made it to the bank yet, to open my second personal account. Has anyone who got the bonus miles for opening an account last year been successful this year?

I am happy to report that all of my points have finally posted and I opened my personal act in November and Bus. act. in December :D Now I am just waiting for the Business Debit bonus to post to my mileathon activity. I was told that this will be completed by the end of the month :)

I am on my 3rd year in a row with this offer. I successfully opened my new personal account in January (at a branch office). Although technically I haven't received all my miles yet (have 12,500 so far), I fully expect them to post with no problem. My first direct deposit just went into the account on 1/29 so it is to early to be concerned about the miles for the account not posting yet.

In case you are wondering, after my new account is set up and I have online access, I close the one from the previous year.

When you opened the new account didn't the banker find it odd you already have one concurrently open?

Not really. I was very upfront about the fact that I was opening the new account to get the miles. I even told them I would be closing the old one in a few days.

I love America! :)

Now let's all get out there, grab the free miles, and travel abroad! :D

That's interesting! I wonder why their system would even allow the same person to have two concurrent accounts. Is there a situation where one would ever need that?

Yes!
1. If a person has a rental property and he does not want to mix the personal and rental property income/expenses.
2. If one wants all travel expenses to be paid from one exclusive account.
3. If one wants all school expenses to be coming from one account.
4. If one has a joint account with spouse and wants a separate personal one for all his gambling activities.

......and as Yul Brynner would say, 'so on and so forth'.

This is weird - my wife opened her account a few days after mine and did the required 5 transactions much after I completed mine, but she already has her full 25K miles posted while I am stuck at 22.5K. I guess I will have to wait out another billing cycle...

So based on the last few reply's its okay to have more than 1 checking account at a time with chase ? Does anyone know what the limit is?

So like if I already have my main checking account with chase that's a couple years old, and I have checks for it, and want to keep it going into the future, its no problem then to open a "second" account for the miles or whatever and then after the 6mo period close that and my main account is unaffected ?

Just wanted to make sure there was no problems with more than 1 chase personal account at a time.

I do exactly what you are describing and even have a 3rd separate "business" account - no problems getting new accounts; no problems getting miles.
