I e-mailled Topguest about VA and here's whay they had to say.

Hello Banker

Thanks for contacting us. We are currently working with Virgin America to resolve this issue and ensure points for prior check-ins not yet credited are deposited.

Unfortunately, we don't have an ETA of when this will be resolved. We are hopeful points will be deposited this week.

If you don't see points deposited into your Virgin America Elevate account by the end of this week please let us know.
Thanks and happy travels,

Topguest
Let's see at the end of the week.

It would be nice if their IT department could at least have some kind of message pop up saying your account has been closed, rather than just having you enter your password, hit enter, then have it flash back to the log-in screen. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
Ah, so that's what happened. I realized my points haven't posted in weeks and I couldn't log into TG. Bummer.

Between Hilton, Priority Club, Choice, Best Western, Wyndham and CO/UA, I got more points/miles than most credit card signups give these days. I will always remember you for paying for my layover night stay at a Choice Hotel in Tokyo, in exchange for me pressing some buttons on my phone for 10 seconds a day, 6 days a week. Thanks for the memories, Topguest.

I'm actually really surprised the vendors that use TopGuest aren't angry they're summarily suspending accounts. If everyone were smart, they'd complain to the programs themselves (I will now) as it doesn't represent them well by simply chucking loyalty customers aside. I'm a gold PC member before all the TopGuest points and simply used it as additional earn. But it doesn't make me think too highly of my Holiday Inn stay when I checked in expecting points from TopGuest (minimal points at that) and they don't even inform me my account is suspended. The only way I found out is I noticed points not posting and came to Flyertalk!

They're cancelling accounts of people who accumulate points with little revenue contributions to show for it. Loyalty programs are about increasing profitable activity - checking into places without boosting your spending isn't profitable activity.

So is it safe to assume that UA is not coming back?

Which is why no loyalty programs should use Topguest. I'd wager that about 95% of the check-ins through Topguest are not tied to any actual spend at the location.

It's not like they couldn't tie it in if they wanted to. See the brief SPG promo a few months back.

Did anyone even win the VA Elite status Topguest said they were giving away during their promotion?

You'd think there would be a likelihood of someone from these parts winning.

I've not been banned yet...but have many IHG property stays, so, perhaps, that's why it's been a non-issue. I still check in whenever I'm near a Hilton or IHG property, although Hilton posts seem spotty at best.

All my accounts got banned. Well, it was fun and we all knew it would stop one day.

I don't think this is relevant, since it's almost certainly TG doing the mass banning, and I doubt they'd have access to the reservation details.
