Checking in while "passing by" is documented in this thread as an account-killer. Top Guest says something about "velocity," which I suppose has to do with your smartphone's GPS.
Rapid-fire checking in also is documented as a no-no.
Questions to those who have had their accounts closed:
Do you have "friends" on FourSquare, or whatever you use to checkin? They're serious about that too.
And what are you using to checkin if not 4Square?

So if you sign up with auto4sq be careful, mix it up a bit.
I have also been googling Topguest- trying to understand- and this is what I found- (you may know already.) Up until now TG's business model was to make money when you sign up for a loyalty program through Topguest. In December, Topguest was bought by Switchfly, (formerly ezrez software) switchfly.com. Topguest's founder left in June to work for the VC company that gave TG their startup capital. According to this article, Switchfly bought TG to integrate with its other products and offer its clients functionality around social media ( thats my take) http://techcrunch.com/2011/12/13/erez-topguest/
here is some background on switchfly from their website:
Switchfly is a software-as-a-service provider of travel, loyalty and payment solutions
the comprehensive Switchfly product suite includes:
• Travel commerce platforms for airlines, hotels and OTAs
• Loyalty point redemption platforms for travel and financial services loyalty programs
• Payments engine for digital wallets, payment services and loyalty programs
• Social media solutions for travel providers, loyalty programs and merchants
• Mobile platforms to enhance shopping, loyalty redemption and social media experiences
Switchfly, which services clients on six continents, processes more than $750 million in transactions annually and loyalty program members have redeemed more than 100 billion reward points through its platform.

It was clearly rapid-fire that killed me, even though I was literally at each hotel (on the road) when I checked in. This probably happened 25-30 tiimes total, not daily. The hotel that is very close to my house I checked into daily and the others only as a driveby.

I finally had multiple check-ins, dating back to May, all hit my PCR account at once.
I'm not getting anything lately via United, which doesn't go through the usual TopGuest site. Eh.

I've been blatantly auto4sqing for months with no hint of getting shut down on any of my accounts. I'm not being particularly careful because the stakes aren't really that high, although I'm only checking in once per day per account.

Not that i'm complaining, but...
Is anyone else getting 150pts for 1 check in at PC hotels ( holiday inn, ect...) It's so weird. Like every 3 days TG gives me an extra 100pts for 1 check in. Am I special or is this happening to others
