For each request, please include the following information:

Departure Airport:
Miles Needed:
Required Spend or Budget:
Available Travel Dates:
Required Metal or Codeshares okay*:

For each response. Please quote the original request. DO NOT START A SEPARATE THREAD.

----

NOTE: You will have greater chances of success if you have greater flexibility on travel dates and cost. If you need a lot of MQMs on weekends only for < 5 cpm it probably won't happen.

Other creative possibilities depending how many MQMs you need:
----

*"Required Metal or Codeshares" is, approximately, asking whether you need a flight operated specifically by Delta or if partner flights are ok. If you are just looking for MQMs to hit a Medallion tier the normal way, then the answer is yes. If you are doing a status challenge, the answer is also probably yes, but read the T&C of your challenge carefully to be sure (for the regular status challenge the answer is also "yes")

NOTE: some partner flights earn MQMs at reduced rates. See this chart for more info.

Has anyone done Japan this year for a mileage run? If I plan on turning same day, have all my supporting covid documents, I should be fine?

Cheap as possible will usually mean flying on a partner airline to earn the MQDs based on distance flown which means a time commitment

e.g. Virgin Atlanic, ATL-LHR-JNB-LHR-ATL, $1203 (Economy Delight), about 24,000 MQMS and $4800 MQDs (use flexible date search on Virgin Atlantic website for other dates)

The post I had about ATL-JNB on Virgin Atlantic would be a consideration (just use the flexible date search to find something after October 17)

Apologies in advance if this isn't the right place for this query, I've searched around and assumed the DL focus of this particular thread would be a good spot:
Further to my quoted post above, I am trying to get a jump start on lifetime MQMs. I have found that one of my plan's shortcomings is that I haven't contemplated using award travel, as well (at least in the short term, while it earns MQMs). In the Premium Fare threads, it's not uncommon to see an itinerary like: EWR-LAX-BOS-ATL-BOG-ATL-LAX-EWR in F, at an attractive cpm. Would fares like this (many legs / convoluted itinerary) be possible on an award ticket? I guess a concise version of my question is: do DL's award fare rules allow for advantageous cpm (in this case skymiles / MQM) redemptions? If not, I won't waste my time in planning around them. Thanks so much.

ATL MQD run revised

I never made a run, so this is a follow-up from my prior post in May - but this time I've got a proposal and I'm looking for feedback:

Departure Airport: ATL
Miles Needed: <$5k MQDs
Required Spend or Budget: no limit, at least using Sky Pesos
Available Travel Dates: pretty flexible, but short flights are ideal
Required Metal or Codeshares okay*: DL but open to others, especially for MQDs

Here are my current ideas for most MQDs for the least amount of time spent:
  1. ATL-BNA round trip in FC is $882. I can fly out before 9am and be back before noon. In fact, I can do it twice in one day (first flight out leaves at 8:27am and second return flight lands at 4:05pm). That's $1,764 (dollar equivalent) in Sky Pesos, or $3,087 of MQDs with the 75% accelerator.
  2. ATL-LAS is $2,253 cost for $3,942 of MQDs - leave at 8:10am and return at 5:04PM.
  3. ATL-DEN is $1893 cost and 3313 MQDs - leave at 8:10am and return at 3:22pm
Comparing options:
  • total time is pretty similar for 1 and 2 (8 vs 9 hours), and option 3 is 7+ hours
  • option 1 is broken up and a total of ~4 hours in the air, vs. 8 hours in the air for option 2 and 6 hours for option 3
  • option 2 gets me the most MQDs, but at the highest cost. Option 3 is in between options 1 and 2, in cost, MQDs and flight times.
Thoughts? Alternatives (ideally using my Skymiles only). Thanks in advance!

Hello all, I'm likely going to fall short on MQDs for DM. I recently learned about booking through partner sites where you can earn more MQDs. I put in a flight request through my work, and specifically asked them to book it through the VA website, and I learned after the fact that the moron booked it through Delta. Now I'm getting 800 MQDs instead of 2500.

Wanted to see if anyone knew of any cheap trips before the end of the year on VA, AF, KLM leaving from LAX.

Thank you

Looking for any recommendations purely for MQMs out of DTW. Looks like Fairbanks Alaska might be decent.

Departure Airport: DTW
Miles Needed: 50,000 miles
Required Spend or Budget: MQD's taken care of.
Available Travel Dates: Now till Dec 31 2021. (I understand status + miles roll over for next year? So I don't need to hit all 50k miles right away and can hit it early spring too)..
Required Metal or Codeshares okay*: DL

This might be impossible, but anybody got a way to get 22,000 miles for under $600 in 1 weekend (Friday counts)?
Departure Airport: RIC or ORF
Miles Needed: 22,000 miles
Required Spend or Budget: MQD's taken care of, want to spend under $600
Available Travel Dates: Now till Dec 8, 2021
Required Metal or Codeshares okay*: Whatever I gotta do.

I think currently that mileage runs that cost less than 3cents/mile are pretty hard to get. Maybe after air travel returns to normal, you can take a look at China Eastern flights from the East Coast to Singapore. In the past, one could get tickets for less than $600.

As for now, take a look at a RIC-JNB run. for example, Oct 16 - 17 costs about 3.7 cents/mile. 2 hour layover in JNB. Use Delta flexible date search, various weekends available

I've done the same, bought 2 RT to fairbanks for the MQM run, based out of DTW! ~11K MQM /~280USD. Not a bad deal!

MQD for Diamond

Departure Airport: JFK
Miles Needed: 37k miles to Diamond
Required Spend or Budget: 12k MQD to Diamond, as cheaply as possible
Available Travel Dates: October 12th - October 21st (flexible on length)
Required Metal or Codeshares okay*: No requirements

New here and need some help figuring out best routing to maximize a trip to Europe. I will have some other travel this year + CC bonus so should be fine on MQM but am aiming to get 10k of MQD on this trip if possible but spend the least.

Aiming to go to Milan first, then Munich with at least two nights in each - also open to stops in London or Amsterdam at any point for 1-2 days

I can return to any city in USA - end destination is Miami.

Any help much appreciated!

MQDs needed to make Platinum

All - Really excited that I could make Platinum this year. I've only been as high as silver for the last 5 years.

Departure Airport: ATL but will use miles to relocate anywhere
Miles Needed: 9K
MQDs Needed: $4090
Required Spend or Budget: < $1300 the cheaper the better of course
Available Travel Dates: October - December (flexible on length)
Required Metal or Codeshares okay*: No requirements

I can't believe that for the right price I can make Platinum!! I'm only $1010 MQDs short of Gold so I figure I might as well go for Platinum
Just completed a BCN trip on VA by relocating to SFO so using miles to relocate if needed is not a problem. Second to price of the ticket is having enough time to get covid tested to get back home so long layovers could be a factor. Thanks all
