Does it matter if it's a NZ flight number on United Polaris metal?

My particular situation is I have a late evening flight out of ORD and a 23 hr (!!) layover in LAX, departing for SYD the next evening, both on UA metal. Am I SOL on lounge access at ORD since they require a "same day" connecting ticket in Polaris? Seems to me that would preclude access to anyone flying a red eye and making a morning international connection from using the lounges.

The SFO arrival lounge is not the same as the Polaris lounge.

It's actually really simple regarding access rules for PL on arrival: UA operated long haul flights with onward connection. *A partner would only gets access on departure. In other words, if your arrive back to the states on NZ, or ORD, LAX, SFO is your final destination on the return (even on UA), no dice on PL.

Was anyone able to get a creative routing? The routing rules were quite liberal, even mentioning stopovers in HNL allowed. I was able to OJ and stopover in AKL but i couldn't make RAR work in my haste. There were quite a few options though

This is funny, you think we had time to plan our itinerary on Thur with less than 1 hour window to book? I was barely able to plan a stopover in AKL which I'm glad to take if it indeed sticks.

Any tips for uncovering the United PNR? I have a single domestic United segment (ANZ flight number). I've added my UA number in the ANZ manage my booking link, but it has not shown up in my UA account. Would like to change the seat on this leg.

Non stop RAR/LAX flight is only once a week i believe which is why it was so hard to find. I wish I stuck with my AKL stopover reservation, since no chains on cook islands and so many carriers on my itin there aren't as many points earned. Then again I've already been to AKL and all of the Australian cities available. Figuring out where to credit all but the AS legs is painful. I guess status challenge AS MVPG to UA Gold is my best bet.

Mine was ORD-LAX (UA) LAX-RAR-(4 nights)-RAR-SYD (NZ). One night SYD. Then SYD-LAX (UA) LAX-ORD (AS).

I found on google flights multi city but had to use ITA and bookwithmatrix to push it to priceline

If you're looking to complete the challenge and keep the matched UA status, it seems this is only helpful if the overwater segments are on UA. If I'm reading the terms correctly, PQMs earned on *A partners do not count towards meeting the challenge. So, you'd earn the PQMs and bonus RDMs, but drop back down to general member after the 90-day period without other qualifying UA activity. Moreover, only 016- tickets earn bonus RDMs on NZ flight numbers anyway. Everyone earns the same 125% on Z fares on an NZ-issued ticket, no advantage to Premiers.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on any of this. I initially got excited about the implications of a UA status match, but there don't actually seem to be many in this case.

What is the best program to credit the miles for the ORD-SYD flight so that I obtain status with an airline that Delta will allow a status challenge from. I wanted to use the error fare as a shortcut to elite status for all the upcoming travel I have on Delta.

NZ marketed on NZ metal.
