If you could move dates to December, it's possible... in Biz to POS, SJU, or a triangle trans con, ORD-MIA-LAX-ORD. Prices seem to be particularly expensive those days.

UA suggestion to get to Gold

Hi Flyertalk community,
I am 4,000 PQMs short of getting to Gold status (it was my first time getting to Silver status this past year so trying to get to Gold for once in my life). I usually fly out of EWR, a United hub. Any suggestions on an easy weekend trip that would get me the 4,000 miles at a reasonable price for wherever I'm flying to?

Thanks!

Thanks for the help.
I am only seeing K and L fares at that price.
Per my post, "I would do TCON a few times or if it's going to be long-haul to Asia, I would prefer W or higher fares on a route that is realistic to use a GPU."

Still grateful for your response. :-)

Hi All, I am hoping to do this with one or two out and backs, and if you can find a lesser known foreign destination in one of the higher fare classes, I have some GPUs to kill.
AUS-IAH-DEN-ANC-DEN-IAH-AUS same day return 12/3 is $528, 7000+ miles. If you earn 500 mile minimum, you may be able to simplify the routing a bit.

A day trip to SFO or LAX in early December is $270 or so, see attached sample.
PHX is even cheaper.

Thank you both for the ideas! I will look at Google Flights as well as you suggested and the other thread.

EWR-SFO-EWR is under $270 every day from 11/30 to 12/11. Do it three times.

On behalf of Mrs Sofasurfer, who has all her requirements met apart from setting foot on UA metal this year(!)

Departure Airport: YYZ, BUF
Segments Needed: 4
Required Spend or Budget: $250-300 (as little as possible, basically)
Available Travel Dates: Ideally weekends, but could do Fri 11th - Tue 14th Nov inclusive as well.
Required Metal or Codeshares okay: UA metal needed

I think that long weekend could also be parlayed in to a mini-vacation with Little Miss Sofasurfer. I've been looking at trying to get them to visit her parents in Florida, but it's not looking that great a deal on UA right now...

Miles aren't the key thing here, just the segments - in fact, I think she'd prefer the shortest amount of flying possible, as she just got back from ICN at the weekend...
