VOA letters are useless. I saw many people showing letters claiming they paid for visas. no. you paid a service unnecessarily. have crisp bills in hand for your transit (0-24hr). or tourist visa. No visa required to sit in the airport. youre on full fare biz you get the lounge. enjoy the massage chairs have a coke with real sugar in it. everyone smiles at you.

I have a visa, but will need two of them within the span of two weeks. It would be nice to hold onto the one that I currently have my getting a transit visa on arrival. Unfortunately, I have 25.5 hours in RGN. Any chance that I could get away with hanging out for an hour - last off the plane, end of the visa line, then discussing the issue for ...about 30 minutes or so, until its officially 24 hours? Is that a ridiculous idea?

[Data point: I got a visa in Delhi. took 3 days. They kindly let me pick it up outside hours. Rs 900 bank draft required.

Both Delhi and London have both responded to my 1-day visit by saying 'we don't give transit visas and you aren't a tourist - just get one at the airport when you get there.' Wonder why the long running discrepancy between the computers and the reality.]

My R2 ticket does not appear with the confirmation code from x.co.uk on ana, but it does on Delta. I also don't pull up anything on cmt.

Yesterday, no ticket number was on expedia, but now there is an E05 number. My flight is in early May. Should I be concerned about not pulling this up on ANA?

I am looking to get positioning flights here soon from Berlin(still not sure where too....figure that out soon), so I owuld like this clear before I do.

EDIT: Figured out the ANA problem...had to do with middle name. Not sure about the CMT issue, but don't care as long as it shows ok on the airlines. Still hoping to turn in an extra day in Tokyo...anyone successful with this after the first flight recently?

so what would the consensus be if leaving on the evening flight:

take the 1pm TG flight - 5+ hour turnaround
take the 7pm TG flight - 50 minute turnaround

keep in mind, passport is not eligible for VOA.

Personally, I would take the 1pm flight and give yourself the extra time cushion.

This is what I will do as well. Also I may spend some time to tour the city.

Good one, although over years in the states, I already got used to aspartame. Last time when I had a coke with real sugar back in China, it tasted weird, but later on I found it was even more weird to taste a US coke with HFCS.

you realize not everyone is American, right? Canadians do not get transit and/or visa on arrival.

I spent 2+ weeks in Myanmar in 2008, when there were only like 10 tourists in town, no need to tour this time around.
But I ll happily have a Mynmar Beer (although I suspect it costs more than the $1.50 it did in 2008)

There is CocaCola in Burma now?????

take 1pm TG flight.
U can go the the Airport Info desk and request to be brought up to the Transfer Lounge. They will get airport staff to work with u and then bring u to the Rose Lounge to wait. Free wifi available in lounge.

With 50-min turnaround, unless u can get your BP in BKK, u will not make it.

We face precisely the same question (except the VOA issue). We are taking the 1PM flight, and will hope to get lucky with some nice TG that will let us go 'standby' on the earlier flight (by possibly avoiding immigration completely). If that doesn't work, we'll hang out in the lounge.

Standby is possible. I've done it before with MI and TG.
Do keep your BP, as when u fly standby, your original flight segment may not be updated with flown status.
Just go to the airport info counter next to VOA counter, and they will be able to help you out. Get hardcopies of your itineary, and tell them u need to got to transfer lounge. I had a 12 hr layover recently, and standby for an earlier MI flight cutting it down to 5 hrs.

I don't think so. I saw some cans lying around tourist sites, but they were all written in Thai - ie imported.

Isn't TG305 BKK-RGN (17:55-18:40) the same plane as TG306 RGN-BKK (19:45-21:40)? I wouldn't think there would be any risk since it's the same plane. I was in RGN recently, it's a small airport, after I got off my flight, the airport agent seems to be familiar with these "RGN Pax" and offered to take me directly to the departure hall to catch my TG306 flight. The hard part is to convince TG to let you board in BKK without visa.

Where did you meet the airport agent? Right after you got off the plane? At the VOA desk? I'm very interested in this as well. Just wondering about the who/when/where to ask to best make a quick turn happen.

Yes. Right after I got off the plane. I flagged down the first agent I saw and showed her the print out of my TG flight. She then asked me to wait while she radio someone, after which she offered to escort me to the departure hall.

The VOA desk is down the escalator from the arrival gates. The immigration check is a few steps away from the VOA desk. It's a small airport, you can't get lost.
