I find rental cars to be more of a hassle in Vegas, I'd only recommend one if you plan on going off strip.

Same question here. I have never been there without a rental car. What I may do is to see if I can find a great rental rate and use one of the special mileage-earning promotion codes listed in another thread.

I want to hear others on the public transportation in Vegas, too.

The initial authorization went through for the first charge and that immediately decreased the available credit line.

The "new" $300 requires a new authorization but it will not be granted after the virtual card number is closed.

I don't think Holiday Inn booked on Expedia (whether throwaway or not) will count towards Sweet Dilemma. If you actually stay, it should probably count towards Crack the Case, though.

One other devious thought: If AMEX allowed virtual account numbers, or you could book airline tickets for different (virtual) passengers with the same credit card, then one could have bought x number of throwaway airline tickets on their Premier Rewards card, and collected 2x MR points (assuming 3x from airline debit to card, but only x from credit from expedia).

I always rent car in Vegas. I pay on average $25 a day. I go to other places beside the 'strip'. No problem with parking in Vegas eather.

If that's the case, then I came out OK. I have lined up all of my IHG stays towards CTC, so I don't need more nights for it.

Trip SUCCESS

Just thought I'd write in about my successful use of this deal. I flew SEA-LGB-LAS yesterday on B6 and it went very smoothly. I bought two deals, one with the Seattle ticket and a cheap hotel and one with a BUR-LAS ticket and a suite at the Venetian I had no problems checking in at either the airport or the hotel, and though I only had one guest registered on Expedia the Venetian did not charge me more for double occupancy (I had a local friend stay with me in the hotel). I'm currently in the LGB terminal waiting for my connection to SEA (wow it's terrible...) and it with the refunds posted to my CC accounts and this trip nearly wrapped up it seems like everything went fine. I also came out of Vegas +$350 so this was certainly a financially positive trip!

Public what now?

If I remember correctly there's an overpriced monorail between some of the less popular hotels, and a frequent bus that runs up and down the Strip itself. Strip traffic is already interminably slow and the bus even more so. Taxis and/or inter-hotel shuttles are probably your best bet since they know how to use side streets to avoid the worst jams.

CTC yes, Sweet Dilemma no. But occasionally one could get lucky. Charge a few bucks at the hotel to see if it changes to qualified stay.

PP might be good idea but the flights are short so not a whole lot of flight pts gained but since you have 6... that should add up to a tidy sum.

You still did very well though.

Oh, and forget about public transport at Vegas - You can walk the strip with intermittent pit stops. Traffic on the strip is horrible anyway, from the corner of Tropicana turning into Strip to all the way up. Back streets are the way to go if you have a car. Else you would be really frustrated being stuck in the traffic, especially on a bus, is not fun.

I actually think if I can find a reasonable rental I would do it for some good airline promo.

see only credits in my 2 cards...no charges... so if I close my cards how will they charge me? (not that I want to do it as expedia will then delete my itinerary then and cancel the vacation )...plus i do not see the preauthorization for charges ..

Many cards dont show the authorizations as line items but the amount is hidden in the calculation of available credit. Your available credit should have gone down by the amount of charges posted and pending charges which you would not see it yet but they are included in the calculation.

From what have been posted, it seems JetBlue is the only airline that has not taken an authorization. Is JetBlue your airline?

So net you gain $6, along with the free flight
My question here is that if the refund will decrease my overall purchase amount or not? For example, I need to spend 1000$ to get the bonus from the cc company, so with the airline charge 200$ and the refund 200$, then I spend nothing here or I spend 200$ here?
