OK OK.

For anyone that actually wants to go when they book, OK I'm MAD about all the people posting that they book only to get compensation.... thats crap, there are options without overnight required in CCS.

Go to NYC SJU and fly from there. Do your overnight somewhere other than CCS and stop complaining.

pdb is most likely right. as far as I learned from the thread, you guys do not have a contract with travelocity but with the hotel. try at least to confirm with the owner of the hotel (is it a chain?).

i seriously doubt you will manage to deal with those people. that's not us!

Hmmm...

It appears that the rate that was displayed was a published rate (i.e Rack rate, AAA rate, military rate )and not a merchant rate (internet rate). If I am not mistaking, these rates flow though to Travelocity directly from the hotel and has to be dealt with directly at the property level because they are not pre-paid through Travelocity.

I this is incorrect, I apologize in advance.

I just called the hotel and they told me they would not honor the rate. They said all I have is a reservation and they canceled it without any problems. I am already in Caracas, though, so now I have to figure out what to do to entertain myself instead. Because the weather prognosis for the upcoming week was so poor for Isla Margarita I decided that I didnt want to go and argue for a cheap rate in a place that is only about the beach to begin with. If someone actually gets them to honor this, please let us all know, but in the meantime I would not recommend that anyone make travel plans based on this rate.

What about Travelocity??

If they are indeed cancelling the reservations, what is Travelocity doing about satisfaction guaranteed???

"Our Man In Caracas"

Phew ... glad you're out there to be our guinea pig, Seeksreal. I just let my cheapie $578.15 r/t airfare reservation expire last night, waiting to see what would happen to you. Guess I'll log onto Travelocity now and cancel the HoJo reservation as well.

I don't know if you are the outdoorsy type, but I would consider getting out of Caracas (asap, before they discover you aren't Canadian ) and going to visit Angel Falls.

To me this situation is interesting - HoJo posted the mistake rate, so they ought to honor it. But it seems like in these cases, the actual hotel itself which is affected has the Last Word - after all, you have to show up and check-in, and that's the point where they can say "Well meester, zee rate ees 70 US dollares, not 70 bolivares. If you don't like, you can sleep out on zee playa ... "

I have a friend that got some problems in ACA last year with travelocity. Booked a cheap rate, 50$, and when he got at the hotel they said they never received it and would not accept the printed itinerary from travelocity. However, they would be happy to provide him a room at 140$. He contacted travelocity twice but all he got was "We are reviewing your complaint and will come back to you..."

You could choose to go and pay the new rate the hotel wants you to pay... then after your stay contact CENDANT (assuming that is where you booked) and ask them to refund you.

This situation here is identical to the Albuquerque Days Inn deal ($9-$10/night if I remember right...) that was posted in this forum several months ago.

Just had an interesting phone call with Travelocity (with whom I reserved my rooms). Based on the above post I called to cancel my reservations, as I figured I would not want to go suffer the same fate. The rep I spoke to asked why I was cancelling my reservation, and I said that I had been informed that the hotel would not be honoring the rate, and so I wasn't going to go and wished to cancel. The rep spent at least 10 minutes assuring me that "they will honor the rate. We will make them." In the end, she strongly recommended that I not cancel, and was so convincing that I didn't cancel the reservation. I am going to call back again and try to talk to someone higher-up though, because I didn't get the sense that this rep understood how cheap of a rate this was and that it might have been offered by mistake.

Will keep y'all posted.

Still, you gotta like the TL's reps attitude - fighting for the customer. ^

Sadly the Expedia rep dealing with my Tokyo re-confirm requests, said she'd get back to me & never heard from again, costing me holiday of a lifetime, since I ain't no Expedia VIP...the sod.

Why bother wasting time calling back? Even if you booked the entire year we're looking at a couple bucks here..

Not cancel!? Why that? Why that? Why that? Isn't it free of charge to cancel? (Besided the first night which is only around 0.04 USD)
