Because the weather prognosis for the upcoming week was so poor for Isla Margarita I decided that I didnt want to go and argue for a cheap rate in a place that is only about the beach to begin with. If someone actually gets them to honor this, please let us all know, but in the meantime I would not recommend that anyone make travel plans based on this rate.
Just had an interesting phone call with Travelocity (with whom I reserved my rooms). Based on the above post I called to cancel my reservations, as I figured I would not want to go suffer the same fate. The rep I spoke to asked why I was cancelling my reservation, and I said that I had been informed that the hotel would not be honoring the rate, and so I wasn't going to go and wished to cancel. The rep spent at least 10 minutes assuring me that "they will honor the rate. We will make them." In the end, she strongly recommended that I not cancel, and was so convincing that I didn't cancel the reservation. I am going to call back again and try to talk to someone higher-up though, because I didn't get the sense that this rep understood how cheap of a rate this was and that it might have been offered by mistake.

Will keep y'all posted.
