Must be kept in the same vault as the recipe for Coke Classic

kanerf Dec 17, 2009 1:16 pm

Me too, with 118 nights this year. Some of those were doubles though.

Not to burst a bubble for anyone.. but my account says Plat and the logo says PP. I seriously doubt that I earned that as I only have 49 nights with Marriott since September of this year when I made the switch to Marriott and did the challenge.

1) it beats being kept in the same location as the recipe of "New Coke"

2) I doubt it - MI is a Pepsi house (back in the late 80's during the last real estate crunch MI was caught between a rock and a hard place....Pepsi saw an opportunity to get their product into MI and provided MI with some much needed assistance in exchange for making MI an exclusive PepsiCo house-things have been relaxed a bit but MI remains very loyal to their partners and continues to prefer Pepsi over Coke)

I definitely think this is a mistake. I have a total of 6 nights this year, and only had 68 last year (but requalified thanks to the generosity of our gracious hosts). I've been Platinum for many years, but never Platinum Premier. However, I see the logo that says Platinum Premier Elite.

Just got next year's Platinum membership materials in the mail. Card says platinum and not platinum premier. Website says platinum premier. But I never expected to be platinum premier anyway.

I think we are all getting too excited. Every platinum member seems to have the PP logo on his/her MR page but when I called the platinum desk last night, they said it's a mistake, we are still just a lowly platinum!

I don't think anyone is getting excited, everyone agrees it is a mistake.

Does it really make any difference? I got like 160 nights this year and this week I didn't even get a room on the concierge level. Once again. And there are 3 of those in the hotel.

+1 I almost NEVER get the CL floor anymore. EVERY res has "CL floor please" in the comments.

While you may not get a room on the CF, they MUST give you access to the lounge. If the lounge is closed, they MUST give you drink in bar and breakfast

VickiSoCal Dec 19, 2009 11:23 am

Propbably people on paid CL stays are taking them. Or those on corporate rates that guarantee CL acess. I really don't care about being on the floor, it is usually nothing special, as long as I can get in the lounge.

It's a vicious cycle. Due a to a dearth of upgrades, I'll just book a CL room if I really want it, effectively negatively Reinforcing MR's poor complimentary upgrades.

Believe it or not, there are people who are NOT elite members who do pay for CL floor rooms. I know this because I have attended events where people I know have paid for the upgrades to be there!

PS. If someone buys the upgrade to the CL floor, how is this a negative reinforcement of a dearth of complimentary upgrades? Reality is, there are only so many CL floor rooms, and if there are a combination of people who pay for them, plus other people who checked in with status before you to claim them as upgrades, how is that Marriott's fault? Upgrades are not guaranteed, remember that! Also, there are other types of upgrades besides CL rooms, if you do not ask, you do not get, and believe me, I ask for them, and get them, all the time! (Including suites!)
