In my first month and a PP I can defiantly tell a difference from just Plat.

• Upgraded to a Suite 3 of 4 times at CY. Rarely got a suite at CY when Plat.
• Nothing to UG into at SHS, but they basically let me raid the pantry and gave me 200 pts as well
• Nothing to UG into at an OLD FI, but recognized my PP status
• 1 of 2 upgrades at FS. The one I got was huge. Too bad I didn’t have anyone to enjoy it with!
• The few times I’ve called the PP line, they answered ‘PP’, not just ‘Plat’.
• I think only 25% of the places I’ve stayed at used the word ‘Premier’ when I checked in. As others have said, most front desk people don’t know what it is.

I’ve stayed at several of these hotels as a Plat, and I’m defiantly getting more upgrades as a PP.

now i have had enough of defending myself to you.....i EARNED my status, as has EVERYONE else...so the HOTELS need to get their stuff together....

yikes, wow --- alright meg, I am sorry I made you feel you needed to defend yourself. Honestly. I thought we were all just having a discussion based on our opinions and such..

Maybe its the hotel, I spent the first 5 weeks at the Ren at EWR. They are fairly new. I am in Columbus next week, I will see if they even know what PP is.

Thanks

I just saw on the website that I was upgraded to PP about 3 weeks ago.

Plat for each of the last 10 years; 160 nights last year, all in a FSM.

When I called the "regular" Plat line, I was told there is no special PP phone number. She did however book me the rewards room that the website said wasn't available...

Still waiting for the renewal card/letter/whatever.....

DH had seen a major difference since making PP this year. We are currently at the Rome Grand Flora on a standard ( old) award and were given the presidentail suite ( well there are 3 of them) and the hotel is sold out.

That's weird because every year previous I've always gotten what I perceived to be standard "we value your business" letter with the new plat card and rules booklet, etc...

Sorry for any confusion...I intended my remarks to mean that there is no special card for platinum premier level...not that there are no renewal cards at all

So I've been a lurker around here for a while and have read the many posts about PP in trying to extrapolate some common themes between those that have it and those that don't. As a Plat for 4 years now (2005-2008) with an average of over 100 nights per year of which about 80% are at FS properties I'm rather excited to see what my renewal level will be for 2010 following this years activity. I say this because from what I've read in various members posts, a large volume of stays in 1 year does not simply qualify someone for PP but what "seems" to be consistent are those who have sustained 100+ night years over a period of 5 years get to be part of the club.

Although I feel like I get treated exceptionally as a standard Plat, I would at least like to experience the difference, if any, of being recognized as a PP. The real question I have for the group is whether the treatment is better as a PP or as a Platinum Emeritus? I'm about 2-3 years out based on my current travel patterns of reaching Platinum Emeritus so I'm hoping to experience PP prior to reaching that milestone so I can make an educated assessment.

I agree. Not much different especially in the US while it did in Europe...in my experience. :)
