anyone know?

Noone has been able to answer my question yet.

Is the "official" designation for a PlatPremier an "X4" as mentioned in other posts or something different?

Just want to learn the lingo.

Marriott Concierge?

I'm curious how many nights you had on the year & what sort of properties did you stay at?

It looks like you might have to stay 150+ nights AND high end Marriotts (Marriott, Renassaince, JW) to get PP. I saw that I got PP with 175+ nights at mostly Renassaince last year. Couple years ago, I stayed at Residence Inn/Townplace Suite for 250+ nights but only had Platinum.

I think there is much more to this as I got PP this year and spent not a single paid night in a FS or "high end" property at all last year. I had 160 nights last year at primarily 2 properties (one TPS and one FI) in Sierra Vista, AZ. My guess is that this PP level has other qualifications that average over a span of years but as MC has said this is all hush hush classified with Marriott I am not sure we will ever know.

Platinum Premier requirements

I work at a Marriott and I've always been told that to attain Platinum Premier Status you have to be in the top 10% of Platinum Members (in numbers of nights stayed). I don't know what difference it makes whether you stay at a cat. 1 or a cat. 5. I'll certainly check into this for you.:)

I have been MW Member since 2001. I have been a platnium every year. In 2006, I was given Platnium Premier. I don't recall ever staying over 150 nights. Up until this past year, a majority of my stays have been in either Courtyards or RI's with about 25-40% being in Full Service hotels.

Bottom line, again and again, none of us KNOW what got us there, we just are. There are enough stories out there that we can probably blow just about any theory away.

I stayed mostly at FS Marriott, but I have never hit 142 before. I think I hit 123, 2 years ago and did not get it. I have some questions, I called the PP line not much difference and the benfits seems the same. Can a experience Plat Premier tell me some differences?

The only ACTUAL difference is the special phone line.. which really isn't that special. Some PPs here have gotten upgraded to a really nice room.....

Personally I was recognized as a PP last year exactly 5 times....I was only upgraded to anything better than a CL room on a couple occasions...but never in a FS. I was upgraded to 2BR rooms in TPS and RIs and a suite in CYs twice.....although I had emailed the GMs prior in all occasions and asked! It wasn't offered but once. Oh, and due to a situation where someone SMOKED in the suite in a CY outside beantown, i was given a suite with a king, and the connecting king, on a SLLLOOOOOWWWW weekend-they only charged me one very low rate.

Truthfully, it's not much different from PLAT.....they really need to up the game, but with all the cutbacks, fat chance.....

guess i will try more hyatts and *woods.

Meg is correct the 'value' of PP is not significant and can't be counted on. The staff at the hotels barely know what it means. Unfortunately the only way to consistently get a true benefit is to call the PP desk have them call or e-mail the hotel ahead and that only works some of the time.

They signed me up for another year, obviously being a squeaky wheel doesn't affect their decisions.

Top 10%? pretty sure you don't have any inside information. The only number I've heard quoted is top 2-3% and given that I rarely see more than 1 or 2 checked into the same hotel I'm in, it's probably close.

People will tell you they know the formula, but the year I was invited I had stayed the entire year at a gov't rate of around $100, 90% at a RI. I've rarely hit 150 nights, the year before I was moved up I had the minimum of 75 nights.

So keep guessing, as that's all it is. The formula is unknown.

PP10 Platinum Premier Upgrade

Marriott Rewards activity shows a PP10 award.

PP10 Platinum Premier Upgrade - 0 Points. Expires 12/31/2009.

In the past, there was no activity for the Platinum Premier status, it was just a status designation. I wonder if Marriott is using the account activity mechanism to alert people of their status

FLLUAFlyer Jan 21, 2009 4:05 pm

I just got the same email. Seems kinda strange, but must be a way for Marriott to keep track of things.

megtravels Jan 21, 2009 4:06 pm

Hey BYD...where are you seeing this??? I don't show that on my activity....oh well.

BigYellowDog Jan 21, 2009 4:12 pm

It's in my rewards activity. I was alerted to it, since it was also emailed to me as if I purchased an upgrade award.

I just got the email as well. Has anyone called Marriott?

megtravels Jan 21, 2009 4:22 pm

Nada for me.....now did your status remain the same (or was it bumped up) when they reset a week or so ago???

Just wondering...........

Mine says PP, nights to renew, 67.......Hum.
