PP amount of spending
Not sure if matters. I only spend an average of probably $150 or less per night. I did 120 last year and received my 2nd year of PP. I do have the Marriott Visa card, which give me the 25 bonus stays for just having the card. I have 104 stays this year and with the new promotion of everything over 75 counts toward the next years stays. I might make Plat for the following year (2011) this year. Did that make any sense? I'm always upgraded, and always addressed as a PP. My 1st post!!

Was PP for 2 years and never once got any other recognition. Was primarily in the DC / Tysons Corner market so maybe they see that often in those markets.

Second, I just want to make sure you don't have a brand spanking new Marriott card that I don't know about. The Premier Visa card that I have only provides 15 nights toward elite status each year. There is also a basic Signature card that provides 10 nights, but I haven't heard about or seen one that provides 25 nights. It would definitely be nice if they had one though. |

Perks
I have been PP for several years.
I have always been upgraded to best room available. Have called 800 # and gotten room when web says sold out. Yes I have gotten clerks who have no idea of perks and have said 12:00 checkout. I stand next to them and cxll Marriott, hand ghe phone to clerk and they are informed of 4 pm. Don't forget, I hzvf been to big cities dhere they have never had a PP |
There have been many front desk clerks who I have run across who are not familiar with any elite benefits. I am not sure if they are new, or if they are just not well trained. I just press my point or ask for a manager. It is not a matter of throwing my weight around, it is a matter of simply asking for what I am entitled to and what I have EARNED by spending MY MONEY with Marriott and not with Hilton or Starwood, etc. If elite members do not make best advantage of the benefits which they have earned, then what is the point of having them, and what is the point of loyalty programs at all? Bottom line, often, if you do not ask, you often will not get, and if you are too timid to ask, then it is your own fault, no one elses, and if someone faults you for asking for what you are entitled to or what might be available to you as an elite member of any hotel or airline or car rental loyalty program, then they do not understand the concept of the programs. If a hotel is not fully booked, or the first class cabin of an airliner you are on is not full, and you have not gotten an upgrade, and you have not asked for an upgrade, yes, it is partly the fault of the hotel or airline, but it is partly your own fault for not asking for something that should be available to you. To do anything other than to ask is a waste of your loyalty money, pure and simple!

Possibly a stupid question, but I just noticed this logo appearing to the righthand side on my husband's "My account" page, but his accoutn status still lists Platinum. Wrong logo appearing for all plats or did he move up a level without knowing it?

Hmmm...same here. Nobody told me anything, but I have the same indication on my account page.

Have you ever noticed that before? I swear it wasn't there last week.

Huh, ditto here... Just 123 nights as a first year plat, not even close to what some of the folks here have. Nnder "My Account', the text still says Platinum, though the picture says Plat. Premier. Maybe it's just a problem with the picture?

I have 114 nights in 2009 and have been Platinum for quite a while, at least a decade.

I see it as well, but I had only 28 nights (15 of which were from the Premier Visa CC.) So I can't see Marriott promoting me to Plat Premier. (Though I am already a Lifetime Plat.)
I suspect it is just a mistake and come Monday, it will be corrected. |
hmm I too have the same logo, however I'm at 222 nights this year
