"There are, in fact, absolutely no changes. American Express was simply trying to clarify current practice.

Thanks for clarifying.
Either AMEX has to get better lawyers or I have to go back to high school.

So what happens if Starwoods sells a property yet maintains that nothing will change yet bonus points stop? In specific, the recent sale of the Lexington Mass. Element and Aloft which still retain the names and SPG program. However, bonus points no longer are credited on my SPG Amex and the Platinum 800 # says call Amex and you guessed it, Amex says call Starwoods.

Has this changed? This year I had elite stays/nights post for only one of my two SPG Amex cards (personal or business, not sure which). When I wrote to inquire about the second, a Platinum Concierge wrote me back to tell me that I was only eligible for elite nights/stays on one card. She sent me to the T&Cs for the card, which are somewhat ambiguous - they do say something about receiving credit for only one card account, but it's not clear whether that means one SPG Amex card account (irrespective of type), or one personal card account and one business card account, since they're different products.

Is she misinformed, or am I? If the former, is there some documentation or other policy to which I can refer her?

Not that we heard of.

You may like to direct her to this thread as a reference.

If you have not received the stay credit for the 2nd card at this point, who should we contact? Is it the platinum concierge or do we need to reach out to customer services? (Same boat as above --> one cards "stay credits" posted, the other has not)

Thanks!

Personally, I think this is a timing issue. The second card did not show up as being connected with your SPG account until this month. It might take a couple of weeks for the sweep that comes to give you another 2/5.

We only have one SPG credit card associated with your SPG account, so only one set of 2/5 were issued. If you have one SPG business card and one SPG personal card, you might want to send me the details so I can look into this.

Which is weird, since I've had both cards for at least a year, and had confirmed that both were linked in November, if not earlier. My best guess is that something (?) happened after my first request to investigate, but not sure what. I haven't had any other contact with SPG or Amex about either card since then (November), so no clue what would have caused the card to be re-linked or un-linked or whatever.

In any event, I'm content to wait!

Well, if it doesn't sort out by the end of the month, let me know and I'll follow up.

Use the secure message center in your online AmEx account. (They have fixed this for me in the past.)

It's hard to find. Click on “Contact Us” near the bottom of the AmEx site, then on the envelope icon in the area that appears. Choose your SPG card, then topic “Other Reward Programs” and subtopic “Starwood Starpoints”. (That sends your message to someone who actually understand the SPG bonus issue.)

Amex told me on the phone that after I spend 5k I would get 15k pts...I was in the process of applying, but said I needed more time to decide.

I received my 15K points without a problem.

You did get lucky. I crossed the spending threshold recently but my bonus points had not posted. I went back to look at my confirmation that I saved and it said that I should expect the points within 8-12 weeks after spending my minimums. The bonus for the first spending posted very quickly even though the confirmation said that it might take 8-12 weeks for that one to post too.

I am hoping that they're not going to screw me on my points. How do I escalate if they come back and say I am not eligible?

I have checked your Starwood Preferred Guest Card and see that you are eligible to earn 10,000 bonus StarPoints once you make the first purchase on the Card (built-in Welcome bonus) within the first year (365 days) of opening the account. These points have been issued to you on 09/24/12.

At the moment, we are unable to confirm you were eligible for an additional 15,000 points on spending $5,000.00 in six months on it.

I've therefore forwarded the matter to our research team. They will verify your eligibility and if the criteria have been met, they will advise accordingly.

We appreciate your patience while we try to resolve the matter for you.

Think so. Haven't seen an offer in many months.
