Amex told me on the phone that after I spend 5k I would get 15k pts...I was in the process of applying, but said I needed more time to decide.

Although, officially, it's one bonus lifetime per card (one personal and one business) so YMMV. If you had the old card and for a while it is probably worth a shot.

I requested another card with a BAC card and they asked for the same thing. I told them I wouldn't like to give them that information and they still were able to issue the card. They also asked for a telephone number which I didn't give them either. I believe they do this for security purposes.

Started applying for personal card and noticed when reviewing application they request AUs SSN. Glad I read this thread, now I know I can call after activation to add AU and tell them I don't want to disclose AU's SSN. Did they give you a hard time when you did this? Seems like most have had success in receiving both bonus' when applying for biz and personal cards. Maybe by the time I'm ready to apply for the biz card Amex will reawaken the 30K promo like they did in the summer :D

No, no one has. ;) Last year, my 2 stays/5 nights posted on January 3, 2012. I would be shocked if they didn't post soon, hopefully tomorrow.

I have both SPG Amex and SPG Business Amex.
I see 2 stays/5 nights posted for one of the cards but not both. I thought they were stackable as last yr I think it was 4 stays/10 nights that posted.

Either way glad this is final yr I need to make platinum for LT Plat. Then it's just nights. Because Amex is so below Chase in many way (no double pts for eating out, forex, customer service, the horrible financial reviews), it will be nice to only need the card to earn a few extra spg pts and not for anything else.

Two data points: my stay/night credits for business and personal posted the other day. Secondly, I have not gotten my 15k for 5k spend. Will contact Amex today.

I had the same trouble everyone else seems to have had getting the additional 15,000 points to post after the spending requirement was met. Through the secure message center, I was told no one had ever heard of that promo, but an "investigation" would be opened. A week later, I heard nothing. I called Customer Service. First guy (who was very polite and professional) said the appropriate code for that promo wasn't associated with my application. He could offer me "some" courtesy points, but not 15,000 at his level. I asked for a supervisor - his response was polite, but he explained his offer of points would be rescinded once I got a supervisor and there was no guarantee what I might be able to accomplish with her.

Supervisor got on the phone and within one minute, she agreed I should be credited the 15,000 points, and I am told they will post within 3-5 days.

Two points:
First, both phone reps were very polite and professional - I was pleasantly surprised.

Second, and more importantly, this whole experience struck me as a deliberate move on AMEX's part. Maybe I'm cynical, but it seems as though the "error" in codes posting happens way too often these days. Followed by the first claim of "no such promo," then the phone rep's offer of some points, with no guarantee of the 15,000, it all seems contrived to get as many people as possible to forego the bonus points. I'm willing to bet AMEX saves enough money from people either not caring, or becoming discouraged, or accepting the lower points offer at the first level of customer service that it justifies whatever hit they may take to loyalty. Points cost them money, after all, and anything that reduces the number they must buy and award goes to the bottom line...

Thoughts?

That is insane. I recently applied for the card and received it last week. I made sure that this was the promo I was signed up for...10k + 15k after 5k spend. I did a screen shot of my acceptance showing the offer after I was approved...I hope that helps.

Whats also strange, I havent stayed in any SPG properties this yr, but this card gave me 4 nights and 10 stays... isn't that twice what i should've gotten? I am so serious...weird heh...

I also have both a personal and a business AMEX.

Does anyone know if I get a third business *wood AMEX card (another different business LLC) have they had experience getting additional night credits beyond the two personal and 1 business card?
