I noticed on my SPG business that I got the first 10k instantly after my first purchase cleared. However on my SPG Personal (which was approved about a week after the business one), my statement recently closed (yesterday) and I only saw the point per dollar spent added to my SPG points earned (Spent $1899 and received 1899 points) I do not see the 10k points posted.

Has anyone come across this and if so, what are my options? I am expecting the full 50k for both cards but getting very nervous having read some of the stories about the 15k after $5k not posting always...

Thanks for the help all.

AX appears to market the AX SPG card to AX members differently than SPG.

I don't believe that AX has an intent to exclude existing card holders from this offer but only AX knows. They are specific about this with other cards. For example: getting a Plat Charge card sign up bonus when you are already a Gold or Green charge card holder (excluding special offers.)

If you have an account and are logged in and either click on a card offer link, or go to 'view my offers' you are offered the the AX SPG card with the sign up bonus only.

To get both the sign up bonus and spend bonus, if you already have an AX Card:
Log out of AX
Clear AX cookies (or all cookies.)
Go to www.spg.com
Click on the link for the AX SPG Card. It may be under a "Earn free nights" type of link. If you don't see it, you may be using an adblocker.
This will take you back to the AX site with the 25K Offer.
If for some reason it did not, don't continue.
Don't Log in.
Apply as if you do not have an AX card, but use the same information (Name, Address, SSN) as your current AX card so they can match things up later (to allow the back dating of the the age of account.) Take screen shots if/as needed.
When you get the card, you will need a 2nd AX account to manage it, as this card has it's own rewards system.
After a short amount of time AX will figure out that you are the same person. When this happens, when you log in, your AX SPG will back date from "Member since $YEAR_YOU_APPLIED" to "Member since $YEAR_YOU_GOT_FIRST_AX" Card, although the card then sent you will have the later year.
Meet the spend.
Caveat: this has worked in the past, may or may not continue to work in the future.

AMEX is all over the place with this card. My wife signed up for the business card in January, and 10,000 points posted within a few days of her first spending. I signed up for the business card in February, and the 10,000 points didn't post.

I sent AMEX an email, and they said that I wouldn't get the 10,000 points because I already had a card in the same family within the past 12 months -- and then they referenced my wife's card! I don't understand how they linked my wife's card to me since I'm not even an authorized user on that account. So for some reason my wife's card is preventing me from getting the welcome bonus on my account. Go figure.

This is indeed very strange. My wife and I both have Amex business and personal cards, and have not had any trouble scoring the appropriate sign-up/initial spend bonuses. I assume that you and your wife each gave different names for your businesses, even if the names were simply your own actual names. So yeah, why Amex should bar a bonus is beyond me, unless the rules have recently changed.

Might be worth giving them a call to ask what's going on and to ask for reconsideration.

Yup, we both used our own names for the businesses (and own SSNs as well). I sent another email to see if I can figure out what's going on. Normally I would attribute this to a mistake by customer service, but it was bizarre that he had all of my wife's information without any prompting from me. This has never been a problem for us in the past.

Well, all's well that ends well I suppose. I followed up again and received this response:

I have checked your account and apologize for the information provided in my previous response.

I wish to confirm that your account will receive:

- 10,000 bonus Starpoints after they make their first purchase on the Card within the first year of Cardmembership
- 15,000 Starpoints when they spend $5,000 on the Card in the first 6 months of Cardmembership.
So it looks like they just got their wires crossed somehow. I am genuinely curious as to how their system confused my wife's card for mine, though. I hope this doesn't happen each time one of us opens a card the other has had before.

My wife closed her personal spg in feb and opened her new spg biz card in march and made first purchase and payment on thursday and friday. However the 10,000 points havent hit her account yet.

How long does it normally take for the points to hit? Or are they gunna be a problem posting and im gunna need to call amex!?

Ok, Just had a transaction push my account over the $5000 spend earlier this morning. Hopefully, I will recieve the 15,000 starwood points soon and be able to answer the question of how long Amex takes to post the bonus follow the spend requirement being met. Of course all this assumes that the 15,000 will acutually post without any problems.. Im concerned because like Elevation I had a current AMEX card (blue cash rewards) at the time i opened the spg. Hoping all goes well

I just wanted to report that AMEX seems to post the points 1 business day after the spending amount is paid off. I made my first purchase with my SPG business, paid it off immediately and saw the 10k points post next day. Then when I hit my 5k, I paid the entire thing off with my bluebird and saw the other 15k bonus hit in the AMEX online account next day. (it took another business day to go from AMEX > SPG though).

I confirmed this works on the SPG personal as well since I Just finished the 5k on that and paid off yesterday (points just posted this morning).

Not quite true. I have ~$5k outstanding balance and the 15k points have posted on AMEX right when I hit $5k spending. Still waiting for them to be transferred to SPG which will probably take a couple days

SUCCESS STORY:

When I opened my card back in Jaanuary, I reached the $1K spend and the 10k pts posted rather quickly.

I passed the $5K spend on Monday and the 15k pts posted to my SPG account today...WOW

I am amazed....;)

To my surprise, when I checked my SPG balance this morning, I had 15,000 points deposited into my account today. The transaction description was "SPG AX - GOODWILL FROM AX". I guess who ever made that decision didn't bother to check they had deposited 7500 goodwill points into my account 4 days ago.

SPG Biz terms:
"Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have had this product within the last 12 months."

I have SPG personal. Anyone with both biz and personal encounter problems getting the additional sign-up bonus? Thanks
