Comments: online check-in done through the app as soon as it was available, 48h prior. I did not receive an upgrade notification (usually the app tells you) but saw I was upgraded by looking at the reservation.

Comments:

On my way over, the lowest suite they had available for booking was the presidential. I had been pre-upgraded to a "Guest room 1 King, City view" (), and they definitely had "Larger Guest room 1 King, City view, Corner room" available.

At check-in, I asked if they had any suite upgrades, and he literally said this executive on the 18th floor was it. I said sure, but also asked if there might be anything better (come on presidential!), but there wasn't.

Given that I couldn't even buy a suite, I'm happy with the outcome. Though a lot more was available this morning, which makes me wonder if coming earlier might have been helpful.

Comments:
We stayed for bday occasion and the staffs really go extra mile to celebrate us. Guest Recog team Angel and Dita decorate our room with Balloons etc, FrontDesk give Room upgrade due to my Elite status and Late check out.
Lounge Manager , Chef and even the GM greeted all guests during dining.Lounge food tasted great 5x per day and the Variety the same as before pandemic, unlike many hotels cost cutting. Sashimi salmon was Fresh and above SushiTei.
The room was comfortable and toiletries was Luxury with Branded Lotion and Shampoo. No cost cutting like other property who try to give generic OEM.
Overall the PERFECT Luxury hotel with EXCELLENT service

Property: Rayong Marriott Resort
Date(s): March 15 to 17th
Room booked: Deluxe Mountain View King
Room received: One bedroom Suite Oceanview
Elite Level: Platinum
Award stay: No
Rate Type: Member Secondary City-Second to None very cheap, cheaper than the MegaTix deal
BRG stay: No
SNAs redeemed: Yes (probably didn't need to as they're not very busy, but it's a great room, actually-two rooms.)
Comments: For a Marriott, this property is fantastic. The pool(s) and beach are some of the best, and it puts Phuket to shame, especially since it's only a 2.5 hour drive from our home in Bangkok. I'm sure it's not always this peaceful and quiet in normal non-COVID, times, but we'll definitely return.

If you had 4 nights on points, where is your 5th night free?

Comments:
This hotel was built around 1973 and designed by Harry Weese, the architect of the Washington DC Metro. Similarities are observable, especially the grand waterfall into the lobby and the use of concrete in a very 1970s method (which I like, but may be too "brutalist" for others). The lobby and rooms were refreshed in 2018, and they were nicely simple rather than luxurious. Plentiful and free platinum breakfast was cheerfully offered either at the lobby restaurant bar or take-away to the room.(paper vouchers provided at check-in). The lobby-level club was self-serve only, and we didn't use it. But it was also provided without request, via room key.
The room was spacious. I did ask about the larger, top-floor suites at check-in, but the COVID restrictions on housekeeping meant that they were not prepared for occupancy unless specifically booked. In any case, my junior suite at 900 square feet, was more than large enough (but as a junior suite, it was all one room -- no wall separating the bed from the living quarters). The decor has been updated on guest floors, but the elevators could use a refresh. This hotel is part of the Crown Center complex, which includes a fashionable department store and lots of kid activities. It is also connected via overhead tubes to the train station area and other parts of downtown.
The pool was open and heated. Its pool deck could use a restoration -- the original jacuzzi (hot tub) that had been outside was now much smaller and cramped near the indoor pool entry (and the jacuzzi was closed). The gym equipment also felt cramped, and the sauna and steam rooms were closed. Weese's modernist designs require some maintenance to look their best, especially the skylight roof over the landscaped waterfall area. However, considering current restrictions, the staff went above and beyond to provide the services they could offer. Room service remains suspended, and I had to request a mid-stay housekeeping visit for new towels and sheets. Overall stay rating would be a 8 out of 10.
