FAQ from Jan 19/22 email from Marriott:
No. Due to varying factors such as low volume in demand, we are no longer selling Travel Package Awards as of January 19, 2022.
Q: What happens to the Travel Package Award I already have in my Account?
If you have a Travel Package Award attached to an existing Reservation, rest assured, we will be honoring your stay and no additional action is required.
Please Note:
The airline miles portion of the Travel Package Award was deposited to you at the time of purchase of the Travel Package Award and, therefore, will not be refunded.
Q: What happens if I need to modify or cancel my Travel Package Award redemption Reservation after March 2, 2022?
If you modify or cancel a Redemption Reservation that has a Travel Package Award attached to it after March 2, 2022, you must contact Member Support to cancel the Travel Package Award, after which you will receive a full Marriott Bonvoy® Point refund for the Hotel portion of the Award. Please visit https://www.marriott.com/help/loyalt...mer-support.mi to find the appropriate Member Support phone number based on your geographic location.
Q: How many Points will I be refunded?
Members will receive a full Marriott Bonvoy® Points refund for the Hotel portion of the Travel Package Award. The refund will be based on the current Points redemption category levels and will equal the sum of the Peak Points Redemption Rate per each Night of the Travel Package Award, at the highest category for which the Award was eligible. The airline miles portion of the Travel Package Award was deposited to you at the time of purchase of the Travel Package Award and, therefore, will not be refunded.

it was around the beginning of april. If you have a problem with my summary of Marriotts crapy way of business, I have a reservation that I have been trying to attach a certificate to for over 3 weeks. I'll pay you $50 to get it done.
If you read my original post I logged over 50 calls and spoke to every possible department, elite services, loyalty care supervisors, my ambassador etc. I even spoke with the hotel assist line. Last night I tried again by calling Kuala Lumpur call center and then China call center. And no one can get it done. I AM just frustrated!
if marriott downgraded hotel category's or restricted the use of the certificates fine. But here they just entirely removed the ability to use them properly. It's hard to believe and honestly pray I am wrong

Is this a stay in the near future? Hopefully when thing settle down things will improve! If part of the issue is at the hotels end, I’m guessing a larger Marriott is more likely to understand the new ‘attachment’ system that is taking place rather than say a small Auto Co. property?
There is no new way to attach a cert to a reservation. When reps add the cert manually its like me putting in the notes. "Give this guy a free stay because...."
hotels won't have it. They need to be able to verify at check in that the reservation is actually going to be covered by marriott and that they shouldn't charge the guest

This has been a struggle for almost a year. People here on the forum had to pull strings to get the cert attached. Now even those last strings got messed up. When we opened a case the reps admitted that there is no way to use the certs in the new system.

The question here really is what's their plan? Was this just a mistake and they are working on fixing it? If yes, than no big deal.
On the other hand this has been something that they knew about already for a long timesp does this mean that they have no plan on fixing it?
its disheartening when big companies like marriott brazenly lie about their product/service.
As of today they are still selling travel packages even though there is no way to use them

The point is, are you more interested in getting your current booking issues resolved, however whatever method it takes?
Or you are more interested in talking endless of the very well known issues that everyone who has travel package certs have experienced / affected with variant degrees?
Honestly, who cares about "their plans"? If a product / program does not work anymore, people move on instead of keeping harping on the glitches etc.
Not to play down the issue, but more like a practical approach - at this point, the former may just get the immediate problem resolved versus the latter would just be endless rant that does not help yourself or anybody else.
Besides, if you have already had so much dissatisfaction and difficulties in using the TP, why you still keep buying those, per your own admission, long after the old TPs gone? You take the good (obviously you feel there is some goods there else you would not keep buying), already know the bad that exists, WHY are you still complaining? It is not like you are forced into these "deals"...

Same question - have you contacted Lurker / hotel directly, to get an assurance? Multiple people have had the similar issues but virtually all of them had confirmations by the Lurkers / hotels that their certs are there, and they checked in without issues.
We understand everything you complain about.

For those that read this forum its important to share this knowledge so others won't fall into the issues that we are.

Lurkers these days do not immediately give responses - for all I believe, some, if not all, may work from home, or even work from a different part of the world. I know at least one is but there is no need to post it. If you have not received a response from Lurkers for over a week, send them another PM /Email to check on the status.
I see a Lurker has posted that a PM is sent. Hope you will get whatever issues you have being sorted out in due course.

Trying to use a 7 night starting tomorrow. I only have 1000 points in my account.
Are they able to book this over phone? I’m really confused about the comments above regarding points advanced. And last time I did this it was a total mess.
any tips on how to book this smoothly?

if I were to buy or have a friend transfer me the points to book would this solve the problem? Is the problem just with points advanced or can they not attach the certs even if swapping out for a reservation held on points?

so if I get the points it shouldn’t be a problem for me to book on points and then have them attach cert and refund the points?
