An open invitation for the lurkers
Since we are "all together now", I'd like to invite William and the other Lurkers to start reading, monitoring, and participating in the "Marriott, Starwood and Ritz-Carlton - new consolidated program" forum here on Flyertalk.
As more discussions migrate to that parent forum, I'm sure the participants there - including the many legacy Marriott loyalists who rarely view this Starwood forum - will come to find your inputs as valuable as have the Starwood loyalists over these many years.

However, if that should change in the interim, we'll be glad to let you know.

William, you and the other lurkers are stars. We can only hope the level of support you provide will continue once the merger into one programme has been fully completed. Perhaps you can head up a team of Marriott lurkers to support us in the new combined programme.

Thanks for the invitation; however, we have already been reading and monitoring this plus the legacy Marriott and Ritz forums for some time now and reporting on what we find there. Just the same, we are not responding to posts on those forums as we are unable to offer the same support as we are in this forum at the moment. This is likely to continue until the program has a name, all systems are integrated fully, and there is only one forum to read, monitor, and participate in.
However, if that should change in the interim, we'll be glad to let you know.

Simple booking of Hotels does not work on former spg.com, as requiestet location is not shown in the list. Yes for sure this is something stupid I‘m asking for, who is booking Rooms over this site? Better go to Expe..., Goog.. or all other booking sites as they show
a) the requested hotel at requieret location
b) availability
Thought this might be basic of a hotel (booking???) site...

I have a question for the Lurkers/more informed folks out there regarding the annual spend towards Ambassador status [apologies if this has been asked/answered earlier]: if I book up to three rooms in my name for a stay with my family, stay in one of the rooms and pay for all of them, do all the charges count towards the spend requirement? I understand that I will only receive the night credit for the room I occupy and points for up to three booked rooms.
Thanks for the clarification!
UPDATE: Just called in, got an answer almost immediately from a wonderful agent who explained that one will receive the points AND spend for up to three rooms provided all rooms are in your name, you stay in one and pay for all three. Night credits will only count for the room you're in, as was previously made clear. Sorted!

My 5 AMEX nights finally made an appearance, but I'm still showing $0 in spend YTD (including for three post-8/18 Marriott stays, which the points were all wrong on and took an hour on the phone to get fixed).
Sigh...

Our apologies for the inconvenience. IIRC, this is still some of the things that the IT team is trying to get sorted. Basically, some of the legacy SPG stuff like SNA's aren't working for all participating legacy Marriott properties and likewise some of the legacy MR stuff like these certificates aren't working yet for some legacy SPG properties. I wish I had a time frame to a fix that I could give you, but I don't.

The horrors of Marriott
I didn't exactly have high expctations but the past week I have had multiple issues with every single booking. I have written to Marriott at least ten times in the past two weeks about very serious problems that neither the hotel staffs nor I can resolve. I have not received one single reply! Not even ONE! I have gone from being a SPG V.I.P to (apparently) a Marriott nobody. No --its even worse than that. They seem to just want me to go away so I may grant them their wish. But ther's the rub: the alternatives are not very entcing. Nevertheless, its as if Marriott just deided to turn off the lights and take a vaction. The web site is virtually useless and the agents I have attempted to speak to were rude, hostile and seeemingly unaquanited with how anythiing in their company functions. Well, maybe that's the answer: it doesn't function.
I do hold out a small amount of hope that things may turn around but you only get one chance to make a first impression and Marriott has just been giving me the middle finger. during the se recent days. I was distraught when U.S. Airways killed off AA and just took the name. I did not think anything could be worse but this is just a complete disaster.
I don't expect any solutions from FT --- I just (desoerately) needed to vent! THANK YOU!

Are some of you still holding out on combining accounts? I still haven't combined yet but it seems like things are slowly being corrected.

the first stay was over 3 weeks ago....i submitted a missing stay request 10 days after checkout & the points & night count posted a couple of days later....but the number of points was incorrect & i didn't get my platinum amenity points....i pointed this out but its been a further 10 days now & i still have not got the correct number of points....
the second stay hasn't posted yet....its been 10 days now since checkout so i submitted a missing stay request earlier today....let see how long this takes....this was also a brg stay so i'm supposed to get 6k points as per the old rule since my brg was approved before the merger....lets see if those points will post with the stay or if i will have to follow that up separately....
the third stay was over a week ago & it posted to my account the day after i checked out, however i only received points for the f&b portion of my stay & not for my room rate....also missing are the platinum amenity points & the magc points....i pointed this out over the phone & was initially told that points post in batches so the points for the room rate & amenity points & the magc points would all post separately over the next few days....this didn't seem correct to me so i called back & spoke with another agent who confirmed that i would need to send a copy of my folio to research so that they could post the correct number of points....i did so & have been waiting almost a week for this to be corrected....

When I merge I will bring in just 25 lifetime nights and 12 YTD nights and that's it. So I'm holding off until later this year as there's no immediate benefit from doing so especially while the IT is still so flaky. If I merged then I'd get my 50-night award I don't need this until the end of the year. I'll merge in November probably.

Checked in at Le Royal Meridien Shanghai yesterday and was surprised to see they had me as "Starwood Preferred Guest" in the status field. I made the booking post transition (and post account merger), and have earned my status on the SPG side in the past.
Breakfast, lounge access (and upgrade) were declined upon check-in until I told them I was Platinum Elite -- they checked their system on another computer to confirm this. Really poor experience, and I can imagine many elites getting robbed of their benefits across the network if this is a widespread phenomenon.

I had one stay from August 11th (check in before the merge) to August 31st (check out after the merge)
+ another stay from August 31st to September 5th and nothing has been posted yet.
Those are 25 nights and would help me to achieve the next level + gift, so it is quite annoying...
Should I wait the 10 working days after the second stay in order to make a claim for both stays?
