Got an email saying that I was targeted for a 22,500 point promotion after 2 stays. Yay.
Clicked to register and got an error. Boo. I fixed it by going into the website and finding the offer in promotions. I find it best to assume incompetence and you will often find a way around it if you try hard enough. |

It's probably Marriott applying the "Exclusive for you" targeted promotion. I couldn't login yesterday, but just this morning something new appeared in my promotions tab.

Slightly odd redesign of the website to focus on "GIVE THE GIFT OF TRAVEL. FROM $124" - That's a pretty random number given there's no way that is anywhere near the cheapest Marriott hotel night available to book this year.

More general nonsense from the website today. The overview tab now says "You are Platinum Elite" in the main body of the page (despite saying Ambassador Elite at the top of the page). Below that it has a section saying "Let's get personal" about Ambassador level which says 74 nights + 0 USD this year - it's the number of nights on my account at least (though I'm pretty sure it's now not gone up for my last couple of stays - I can't see any way to track what was recorded in terms of nights?).

Maybe not in the cities you look in but some cities I've traveled to for work have sub $100 stays and I just did a random search and found plenty just for next week at $92/night. So, yes, that is "near the cheapest Marriott hotel night available". In fact, there are still rates quite a bit lower.

So, my point total mysteriously dropped today, to the level of what it was last week (before last week's stay was posted).
On Sunday morning, the stay, and the points, were there. I didn't check the website yesterday. Today the stay is still there in the activity list. But the points are gone. I suppose I'll have to wait a day or so to see if this fixes itself. I'm reasonably certain that calling Customer Service will be useless. Also, I'm a little disturbed that no one else has seen this issue today. Makes me feel "special". Basically, it's too late now, but what am I supposed to do....screen shot the page every single time the point value changes? |
