I believe The Liberty (Luxury Collection) had the most open amenities (on site restaurant) when I last called a bunch of Boston properties, so would probably be your best bet, though it's not in the most convenient location. We ended up staying at the Moxy which didn't have any amenities open (right by the W) since we were only doing a 1 night stay.

Just had an one night stay a week ago with 2 rooms.

The largest room that is confirmable via SNA is Cool Corner King, which the hotel does not consider as a suite [more on this later]. Was able to get both rooms upgraded using SNA to Cool Corner King.

THE GOOD: The rooms are nicely furnished, with the usual W amenities. Full honor bar is available, along with an in-room Nespresso machine. Standard Davine bath amenities.

The hotel restaurant (The Gallery) is open for breakfast only, with room service available for all meals. The lounge is open after 4pm, with lite bites. There is a Veuve Clicquot-sponsored happy hour, where you can get discounted bites if you order a glass of Champagne.

The breakfast welcome amenity (in lieu of points) is $50 credit. For Titanium members and above, it can be used at the restaurant and room service. Bear in mind that, in practice, the hotel takes $50 off the bill, with no adjustment to the service charges. The food was good. Breakfast set with juice and coffee is $24.

4PM check-out was available with no issues.

Valet parking was efficient.

The OK: Checked in right before 4pm, and neither rooms were available. Had to hang out in the lobby waiting for them to confirm what's happening. The MOD/Whatever Whenever host came over and offered a Marvelous Suite - only mentioned that it does not have a tub and not disclosing that it is an accessible room, but we took the room anyways. While they promised that they would call when the second room is ready, there was no call, and we finally went downstairs at 5:30 to get the keys to the second room.

Also, it seems like they were training a few FD associates, as the same MOD was handling multiple tasks, including breaking a large bill and making change - things you typically expect the FD associate able to do.

The BAD: There were several billing issues at check-out. First of all, there were no adjustments for the breakfast amenity, so that had to be manually done. Same thing with enhanced internet charge, and the FD host just said that it'll be taken off at check-out with no apologies. [Typical W/hatever attitude?]

Since I booked 2 rooms with different rates - one as AAA parking package, and the other with a 50K cert, Murphy's Law dictates that the valet parking charge will show up in the wrong folio, even though I gave a heads-up to the front desk at check-in. The same uninterested FD host took off charge. However, one day after check-out, I received an updated folio with the parking charge, now applied to the room with the parking package. Called the hotel to request a refund, but 4 days later, the refund still did not show up. Called again today, and the manager claimed that the refund was processed, but it turned out that it was the adjustment for the breakfast amenity. Called one more time, and now the case is referred to Finance for them to process the refund.

OVERALL: The location and the room amenities are the best aspects of this hotel. The front desk's performance seemed like amateurs' hour, but this may be due to the current labor shortage.

One Night Stay at W Boston

Just checked out today and had a similar experience to the above poster. Used 50K points into a base room and SNAed into a Cool Corner King.

Upon arrival Lobby feels dated and a little cramped. Time for a renovation from the 2007-esque decor. Area around the hotel is very convenient (one block walk to Boston Common) but definitely still feels gritty. Lots of trash on the street.

Room wasnt ready at 3pm, was told would get a call when ready and they called at 4:01pm. Theyd already put our bags into the room - nice touch.

Frustrating that you cant get an actual suite with an SNA. FD confirmed that Cool Corner is the highest room you can get into with an SNA. I asked for an upgrade beyond it but was told they were fully committed.

The room was awesome. Would guess renovated within last two years. Big windows (that open!) with comfy bed, big TV, couch, separate tub. Comfy bed. A bit of street noise, but not bad. You cant hide the mid-2000s bathroom tile though. Not a great look. Overall feels like the hotel was built a bit cheap when they built it. More like a generic apartment style construction vibe.

Titanium breakfast benefit is a $50 credit and they let you use it in the room, but as noted before you still pay service and delivery charge. Food was excellent and delivered quickly. Free coffee available in lobby all morning that was good (no real milk though).

Valet was great though at $65 it should be.

Overall a good but not great stay. Id come back but would explore other options before committing to the W again.

Ive seen noise issues mentioned in many reviews. How bad is it? Are there any rooms towards the lower end that are better than others in terms of quietness?

I just stayed in a corner room which faces the street. We were on floor 10. You will hear emergency services sirens and honking quite a bit even at that height. Otherwise its quiet.

Just had a three night stay here. It was an average to poor experience.

Upgraded to a cool corner king proactively (I am Ambassador). Asked about anything better at check in, but they confirmed it was a sell out.

The young lady at check in was training but very friendly. She actually turned out to be the best member of staff. No one proactively recognised my status and it took a few mins to get my free breakfast (well, 96$ credit per day) and 100 USD F&B credit recognised. Overall, an underwhelming experience.

The rooms are okay. Shower pressure was weak and its not a rainfall shower. Tiling in the bathroom looks pretty cheap. Bed is the usual comfortable W one. Air con was a single functioning vent out of four, but luckily it was a plucky vent - I am not sure how hot Boston gets in the summer but it sufficed for May. Nice new Samsung TV in the room. Chair and sofa were actually okay for a W and looked new.

I did not receive a welcome gift of any kind, despite it being a Luminous rate. I couldnt be bothered to explain this to anyone. In Europe/UK, I usually receive a bottle of bubbly, fruit, snacks etc, as Ambassador.

Breakfast is fine but wildly overpriced. Service isnt exactly friendly or especially competent. Its just kind of average and perfunctory. The orange juice comes from a carton. The bacon is destroyed in the conventional American manner.

We ordered room service to help use up our F&B credit, as we couldnt be bothered with any of the outlets. The hotel added a 22% service charge and $6.50 delivery charge to this. For context, Ive previously received room service breakfast at W Amsterdam until the afternoon, without even a tray charge, and with no cap on spending.

The best thing about the hotel is the location. This was my first time in Boston and the US, and the hotel was ideally placed for the central sites.

The hotel is definitely overpriced, but it looks like Boston is generally a bad place for hotel pricing relative to the quality of the establishments. For my dates, we had a thrilling choice between paying $250 or whatever for a Moxy, staying at the W for around $375, or stumping up a million dollars for the RC and Four Seasons, both of which also looked shite. We managed to get a Luminous promotional offer that knocked something like 25% off the rate when we booked, and it also included the breakfast and credit etc. Overall, it still cost over $1100 for three nights. I believe the elite breakfast benefit is 50$ based on some confusion at breakfast, which will cover a restrained breakfast and a coffee for about one person tbh.

In conclusion, the hotel was poor value for the money and I would not return. For context, I have stayed at the W hotels in Amsterdam (multiple times), London, Abu Dhabi and Barcelona. They would all destroy this hotel on their worst day. I have stayed at most of the good Bonvoy hotels you can name in Europe and a couple in the Middle East. I did not feel valued as an elite here and the quality of the hotel did not justify the price tag.

We were quite pleased to leave.

Happy to answer any questions.

I'm on my last night of a 3-night stay here, and wanted to post a quick review.

GOOD:
- SNA cleared at 5 nights out from a regular king room to a cool corner king (but I do have to point out that the naming of rooms at W hotels is beyond silly).
- Staff have generally been friendly and helpful. Tonight's bartender offered a wealth of knowledge regarding local restaurants and watering holes.
- I like that the room has a fully-stocked mini-bar including all kinds of drinks and a nice selection of snacks.
- The climate control system in the room does a good job, and doesn't crap out in the middle of night like some places that have motion sensors.

OKAY:
- The location is a PITA to get to. Driving here and trying to drop off my rental car at the valet has been problematic every single time. Boston, like many big cities, can have clogged streets downtown, but the W is in a place that will ALWAYS be clogged. And their long curb in front of the hotel always seems to be full.
- I've been working long hours so ordered dinner from room service twice. While it's refreshing to get food served on an actual tray with actual dishes and actual silverware, the food itself has been tolerable but disappointing.
- Soundproofing in the rooms is not the best. I can clearly hear traffic noise from outside, and every slamming door on the entire floor at all hours of the day and night.

BAD:
- There are weird quirks in the room like the fact that the windows make this loud CRACK sound every time I walk near the bathroom (and I can hear the same from the rooms above and below me), and the HVAC vent in the bathroom has so much disgusting dust and grime on it that it looks like it hasn't been cleaned since the hotel opened.
- I was pretty excited to go to the lobby bar tonight to hear the DJ, who was highlighted by the associate when I checked in, on pamphlets in the room, and on the little TVs in the elevator. He did play good music, but can't mix! I admit I'm a pro DJ too, so I may hold higher standards than some, but they could put a bluetooth speaker playing SiriusXM if they just wanted music to switch from song to song. I expect someone who is paid to DJ at an upscale place like this to be able to mix songs together.
- Speaking of elevators, one of the two has had a "we're doing emergency maintenance" sign on it my entire stay.
- As an ambassador elite whose only room preference is "high floor", it's disappointing to be on the 7th (of 15) floors.

The elevators here have always been an issue - two for 15 floors is not enough. Plus, one always seems to break at some point.

Staying here this Saturday and had an SNA clear into the Cool Corner room as a Plat.

1. What does the breakfast benefit look like here? Worth eating or no?
2. Is it hard to get into the W Lounge late night or do hotel guests get preference? Any other recs for cocktail bars nearby?

I'm staying here for one night this Sunday and just got cleared using a NUA to the WOW suite. If your trip is after this, I would be happy to report back with more info but very happy to have gotten the notification today.

I would also love to hear about it. It's been ages since I've stayed at a W and I've never stayed at this one.

As promised, here are some thoughts I had about my one-night stay with pictures in the spoiler! Lots of text and lots of pictures, so let me know if you have very specific questions.

---
  • Check-in was uneventful. I checked in around 6pm and it was quiet, with only one person working the desk but he was efficient. Only gripe I had was that I forgot there's a $40 destination fee here and he did not mention anything about it. Since I forgot, I didn't ask about it and only remembered as I got the final bill. They let me have the two ticket vouchers expiring 12/31 to View Boston (the relatively new observation deck in the Prudential building that costs $34+ anyway) and I'm local, so I'm not too mad about it.
  • As mentioned before, I was upgraded to the WOW Suite on the 12th floor (room 1226) about 4-5 days out using a NUA. For what it's worth, it was actually my wife's birthday, so that may or may not have played a role in the upgrade. I am staying here again on Wednesday (I have the stay two separate paid stays, get 5 elite nights each, so these stays are really to collect elite nights more than anything) and have not been upgraded, so I can also give a little quick update on the base room if I end up in that room.
  • They did provide a little birthday gift in the form of cake pops with a few berries and checked in via the app during the night, so service here was quite pleasant and attentive.
  • The room itself is quite nice, although I would not pay anything near $1,500 or whatever the going rate is for it.
    • There's a half bath to the right as soon as you walk in and then a large living/entertaining area with a wet-bar right in front, encompassing the corner of the building footprint. Two small closets to the immediate left of the front door, then the master bathroom with one toilet, one spacious shower and one bathtub after that. The bedroom is basically the bed, a skinny glass desk, and a dresser with a decently sized TV on it. There's a divider that you can open up halfway between the bathtub and the rest of the bedroom, for whatever purpose you may want that for.
    • Overall, I liked the space and I could see how it would be a nice space to invite folks over and entertain, maybe before hitting the clubs nearby. There is a lot of alcohol laid out in the living/entertaining area, so I'm guessing that's who they might want to attract.
    • The view is nothing spectacular, being on the corner of Tremont and Stuart, but it's a cool corner location and there are definitely worse places to be.
    • I had a few nitpicks, but still definitely happy with the price I paid (~$240) and the use of the NUA, especially in my own backyard. Nitpicks below:
      • Probably the biggest one for me was that the room seemed to run cold for me. There were two thermostats, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. Both were set up at 70, then 72 degrees, but I felt pretty cold throughout the night and woke up pretty cold. The vent in the bedroom also seemed to push air directly over the bed, so you would really feel a breeze at times.
      • A few of the chairs had some stains/rips in there. Nothing to make me think the place was a dump, but still noticeable.
      • I would have preferred a real door to the sliding divider between the bedroom/master bathroom and the living/entertaining area.
      • Water pressure in the shower was just average or maybe a little below average. I also found that the toilets, especially the one in the half bath, were not particularly strong so you really had to hold down the handle to flush.
      • I worked a bit from the room today and I found that there weren't a lot of great areas to really work from with handy outlets. There are plenty of outlets, but there are either low on the walls or you have to move some furniture to really get in the right position to work from. Also, most of the surfaces that are really workable at are glass, so keep that in mind in case you have a small little Logitech mouse that doesn't work on glass...
      • Very nitpicky: I thought the walls for the half bath and the closets were kinda bland. Thought the W would do a little more design on those white walls.
  • Due to our Platinum Elite status, we did get breakfast included ($30/person/day) and we just ordered a Steak and Eggs in for in-room dining, which just about hit the allotted budget. It came quickly but was just okay. Steak was a little overcooked and was overall bland. Fine for breakfast though and portion size wasn't too small.
    • One of the inclusions on the destination fee is a $20 food and beverage credit though, which I did not know about since I didn't ask and they didn't go over the inclusions. I think that means I technically could have spent a little more or grabbed something from the minibar. Oh well.
  • They did grant a 4pm late checkout, which I thought was amazing after upgrading us to the suite. Nobody knocked on our door or anything and we checked out with no problems at around 3:30pm. Seeing as this was on the 12th floor and I think there were two more floors above, I assume they may have a few more of these room types.
  • I did not use valet parking, so cannot speak to that. The valet workers seemed pretty busy though and would often hold the doors open to welcome people in and let people out.
  • I did also bring my small dog and the pet fee did not end up getting charged. Perhaps just an oversight, but that was a welcome surprise to me.
Pictures below! Warning that the photos may come out pretty big.
