As promised, here are some thoughts I had about my one-night stay with pictures in the spoiler! Lots of text and lots of pictures, so let me know if you have very specific questions.

---
  • Check-in was uneventful. I checked in around 6pm and it was quiet, with only one person working the desk but he was efficient. Only gripe I had was that I forgot there's a $40 destination fee here and he did not mention anything about it. Since I forgot, I didn't ask about it and only remembered as I got the final bill. They let me have the two ticket vouchers expiring 12/31 to View Boston (the relatively new observation deck in the Prudential building that costs $34+ anyway) and I'm local, so I'm not too mad about it.
  • As mentioned before, I was upgraded to the WOW Suite on the 12th floor (room 1226) about 4-5 days out using a NUA. For what it's worth, it was actually my wife's birthday, so that may or may not have played a role in the upgrade. I am staying here again on Wednesday (I have the stay two separate paid stays, get 5 elite nights each, so these stays are really to collect elite nights more than anything) and have not been upgraded, so I can also give a little quick update on the base room if I end up in that room.
  • They did provide a little birthday gift in the form of cake pops with a few berries and checked in via the app during the night, so service here was quite pleasant and attentive.
  • The room itself is quite nice, although I would not pay anything near $1,500 or whatever the going rate is for it.
    • There's a half bath to the right as soon as you walk in and then a large living/entertaining area with a wet-bar right in front, encompassing the corner of the building footprint. Two small closets to the immediate left of the front door, then the master bathroom with one toilet, one spacious shower and one bathtub after that. The bedroom is basically the bed, a skinny glass desk, and a dresser with a decently sized TV on it. There's a divider that you can open up halfway between the bathtub and the rest of the bedroom, for whatever purpose you may want that for.
    • Overall, I liked the space and I could see how it would be a nice space to invite folks over and entertain, maybe before hitting the clubs nearby. There is a lot of alcohol laid out in the living/entertaining area, so I'm guessing that's who they might want to attract.
    • The view is nothing spectacular, being on the corner of Tremont and Stuart, but it's a cool corner location and there are definitely worse places to be.
    • I had a few nitpicks, but still definitely happy with the price I paid (~$240) and the use of the NUA, especially in my own backyard. Nitpicks below:
      • Probably the biggest one for me was that the room seemed to run cold for me. There were two thermostats, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. Both were set up at 70, then 72 degrees, but I felt pretty cold throughout the night and woke up pretty cold. The vent in the bedroom also seemed to push air directly over the bed, so you would really feel a breeze at times.
      • A few of the chairs had some stains/rips in there. Nothing to make me think the place was a dump, but still noticeable.
      • I would have preferred a real door to the sliding divider between the bedroom/master bathroom and the living/entertaining area.
      • Water pressure in the shower was just average or maybe a little below average. I also found that the toilets, especially the one in the half bath, were not particularly strong so you really had to hold down the handle to flush.
      • I worked a bit from the room today and I found that there weren't a lot of great areas to really work from with handy outlets. There are plenty of outlets, but there are either low on the walls or you have to move some furniture to really get in the right position to work from. Also, most of the surfaces that are really workable at are glass, so keep that in mind in case you have a small little Logitech mouse that doesn't work on glass...
      • Very nitpicky: I thought the walls for the half bath and the closets were kinda bland. Thought the W would do a little more design on those white walls.
  • Due to our Platinum Elite status, we did get breakfast included ($30/person/day) and we just ordered a Steak and Eggs in for in-room dining, which just about hit the allotted budget. It came quickly but was just okay. Steak was a little overcooked and was overall bland. Fine for breakfast though and portion size wasn't too small.
    • One of the inclusions on the destination fee is a $20 food and beverage credit though, which I did not know about since I didn't ask and they didn't go over the inclusions. I think that means I technically could have spent a little more or grabbed something from the minibar. Oh well.
  • They did grant a 4pm late checkout, which I thought was amazing after upgrading us to the suite. Nobody knocked on our door or anything and we checked out with no problems at around 3:30pm. Seeing as this was on the 12th floor and I think there were two more floors above, I assume they may have a few more of these room types.
  • I did not use valet parking, so cannot speak to that. The valet workers seemed pretty busy though and would often hold the doors open to welcome people in and let people out.
  • I did also bring my small dog and the pet fee did not end up getting charged. Perhaps just an oversight, but that was a welcome surprise to me.
Pictures below! Warning that the photos may come out pretty big.
