Then the lady wanted to see the card and said that you can not use a debit GC to load. Then I went to a local grocery store and used the card to buy a $199 MO and it worked. It was my first time trying to load into a Discover and it does not look very good.

Did you hit cancel and select debit? It worked fine for $20 (total value $500, $480 was liquidated for a MO a while back) yesterday at WM to load Discover. If you did so, as dwCoffee mentioned, might be limited to $49.

I did not get an option. When I bought the MO from the Grocery, I got the option to choose debit.

I also never see this option when loading at WM-MC.

Hitting the red "Cancel" on lower right corner on the terminal isn't new, it's been like that for a long time. It'll show up after you swipe your MCGC. Or your local WMs may not allow it, I am not sure why you don't see the "Cancel".

All I get after swiping is cash back yes/no.
When I hit no, that is it - there is no other prompt or ability for me to interact with the transaction unless it's a multi-swipe in which case, it's just a repeat.

I can only refer to read the Wiki @ https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manu...2022-24-a.html

It's working fine on their new terminals at least around here.

By the way, if you see "Cash Back, Yes/No", that means the card is treated as debit already unless Discover CC or some CCs that allow cash access. Not sure what's going on at your WM.

The trick is terminal specific, does not appear at my local but I have another store where it does work,
For me MCGC are just not worth the hassle

New terminals are all Ingenico Lane 8000 or something like that (with that triangular digital pen with red accent) around here including Mei*** (Mei*** for sure since I just been there. I finally decided to look the manual up how to hard reset it just to screw with them when I get pissed or something).

The thing I'm talking about has nothing to do with the cashier, there is a button or two I press on the terminal at a perticular moment during the transaction which makes this happen is how far I would go.

LOL the dejected feeling is real. I’m fortunate to live in the Midwest where I have access to 3 krogers, 5 Meijer, and 2 Walmarts all within a 20mile radius. I just single swipe for MOs then move on to the next store. Deposit them into either of my 3 local credit unions.

I've generally found Meijer to be dead for MO liquidation near Milwaukee late last year. Vanillas, Pathward/MBs, and of course the US Bank fiasco...all fail for me.

Fail because the cashier checks the card before you swipe or GCs are giving failures?

The cards are declined at the register. I haven't had much issue with cashiers wanting to see the cards locally. I haven't gone back and tried in the last couple months so I may try to confirm Pathward and Vanilla are still dead at some point.

Does loading Metabank/BHN to Discover at WM have the same limit of $480 per transaction as purchasing MOs? Or $500 is ok? I saw mixed DPs. Thanks.

DP:

Today Safeway Vanilla/Sutton 411810 6/32 New Packaging VGC's had a 6-hour wait to use instead of the usual 1-hour.

DP: Today at WM, had a CVS/Pathwards, where the card would not swipe at term, this was at MC, not CS. thinking the magnetic strip is defective as I haven't tried another store. I opened the package from car and walked in. Bought card 2 days ago. Called number, card is active and has balance, no transactions. This is the 2nd time I've had another defective strip (if thinking is correct)
