after reading all posts, still have some questions:
1. I saw fine print says: limit 1 per household, need card. So do you guys need scan your Tom Thumb card, then get the 10$ off coupon?
* if no need scan card, we can buy a lot
* if need card, they will know how many we buy, and limit the 2nd transactions or do not print out cpn
2. what difference check out at machine? no hassle?
vs. check out by person?
3. I can use tom thumb gift card to buy master card? right?
I see some stock in north dallas area, so what is your experience in dallas area?
thanks for any info

2. Less hassle if you get 'stink eye' for doing multiple transactions. I routinely do three in a row with no issues at all.
3. Not anymore. There is a new policy, no prepaids for prepaids. You can use a CC though, or a bank issued debit card (like a registered reloadable or a Visa Buxx or a rewards debit card- did you know we have a bank which gives 1 mile/$2 rewards on debit purchases in TX?)

Data points.
If coupon doesn't print, go to customer service. They usually give you 10 cash or safeway giftcard. You can stack the paper coupon with giftcard too
Also, as others have noted, ring the cards up separately.

This sounds like it could be an awesome deal right, especially if you shop at Safeway and if you could use the self-checkout to pay for these cards? I wonder if you can do five or so transactions at the self-checkout and receive 5 coupons as well? If anyone can give me a heads up, I will be trying this today as well after exams!!
