I have the Citi and tried to prepay, but the website would not let me pay off more than the balance.

Just go to a CitiBank branch and pay whatever amount towards the card.

Atlanta is now a mixed bag. One store sold me a bunch on CC, then I went down the street and was denied for two cards at $499 each - I didn't see what was on the screen but the lady went and got the famous memo and checked that what I was buying matched. Since I had seen that memo already I zoomed right into the 4/4 date but she just shrugged and said it was already in place in the system...

Not sure if it is regional or store to store. I'm in LA area and got $5k my sister just called to tell me she got rejected in San Diego.

Pay with what? Cash? I don't have a Citi bank account. I don't have any debit cards with me, except 2 BB.

So for CVS, that's 8pm ET, and 5pm PT.

So this will be dead by tomorrow evening in CA? :(

Just tried in Westwood in LA, and they told me cash only. :-(
Tried the CVS closest to Westwood/Wilshire. Does anyone know of any other CVS in the area that still has VR and takes CC?

A Bluebird check. Or any other check. Or money orders (but don't do that regularly) Or cash.

If I pay with a check in person, how long before it applies to CL? Doesn't the check have to clear first, 2-3 days?

Last night, went to my store in Wooster, Oh. and bought $2K VR cards. This morning, went to same store and the register would not accept the CC. No one in the store had any idea why.
Finally, got the manager, and didn't know what was occurring. Went in back, came back and told me that he just got the e-mail that they were no longer taking CCs :(
Will try some others around the area but I have a feeling that the ax has already fallen.

Why do people use words like rejected denied or declined. If not hard coded the information is useless to the group. Cashier denials have been happening since the beginning of time.

my ID has not reset in 4 days now. i didn't even go to cvs on the 31st, but last night the system stopped any purchase that required my ID. strange. the mgr rang me up with 2 orders under 1k and that was it (she believes policy is 2k/day and won't budge). and as i mentioned elsewhere, with all the cards there, the cashier gave me the wrong cards! good thing i always check for proper activation and matching #'s before i leave the register.

wish i didn't have my passport in a safe in another state!

120k points. Should be enough for 1 Night at a top tier. I value it at $500+ if you state at an international destination. Diamond Status, I read is not much difference from Gold. But I am planning to go to Europe next year, and I think with diamond status, it will increase my chances of getting an upgrade.

But since CVDead...this changed my plan.

I agree -- Even post-deval, there are some great uses for Hilton points. Los Cabos at 41,600 points/night vs. $758/night (!!), for example.

One more data point for San Diego -- my go-to CVS told me cash only (wouldn't even try it), but my backup CVS is still going strong, got 6 more VR at noon today and will keep at it every day until it stops working...

My sister was denied by the register in SD. The cashier was willing.

Again, there is a difference between restricting information and overt publicizing. Refraining from overt publicizing is not restricting information. For example, the MS community did not purchase a Superbowl Ad to publicize MS to the masses. I would not consider that restricting information. Furthermore, large mainstream blogs have a profit motive and are rewarded for overt publicizing.

I do recognize, however, that you are entitled to your opinion, Paul.

I agree with you. I think the OP was referring to MMS.
