Even better question is why would anyone sell a VR for LESS than face value?

You are giving ebay waaay too much credit. They do not care that much about the customer. Now if YOU do the research and can without a doubt PROVE they scammed you (which is unlikely), then maybe, just maybe, you stand a chance.

Actually, on Ebay the buyer is much more protected than the seller.

We are talking about SOLD listings. Do a search for sold Vanilla Reload or Moneypak listings. There are dozens that have SOLD for 40% over load value.

Here is a list of SOLD vanilla reloads.

Don't confuse an item being listed for a price with the item actually selling for that price. I could list a 78 Pacer on there for $1,000,000, but that doesn't mean anybody's going to pay that for it.

In other words, the auctions are jokes. Good day for them, too.

EDIT: The ones that have actually sold will almost certainly never actually be paid for. Happens way too often on auctions that people are fairly certain aren't serious.

I mean... Why share all the details?

I have heard it and seen it as well. Some people like to brag about their prowess without any thought to the consequence of their verbal diarrhea.

Why can't incomm directly sell the beans online after registering with them, and pose some limits per month etc..no trips to stores and everybody will be happy..am I missing anything here?

Cashier (manager?) at my local pharmacy told us about a guy that buys there regularly. He claims to do $40K a day, netting $30K. I didn't get the time frame for the net profit. If that had been me, I'd have kept my mouth shut.

CVS Downtown Houston is out of beans. I'll try to purchase around my neighborhood and report back.

Data point from Jacksonville, FL: I was able to purchase vanilla VGC for 2K. I couldn't find any beans and got what is available. Got another 3K last evening. My DW got 5k VGC in East Bay.

Are there really that many stupid people out there?

You can bet it is a scam. Not because there are stupid people our there. You think people who know of and buy vanilla reloads are that stupid? It is a way of gaming the system. Gift cards have sold for more than face value since forever on eBay. Same deal here.

Yes. I've done. Other people have also confirmed it. But you should go ask in the BB thread.
