All good in DC.

All good in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I've noticed that at many CVS's (at least 3 in my area), when I first swipe my credit card I get a message that says "Alternate form of payment required," or something to that effect. However, if I just swipe again with the same card, it'll go through. At first I thought it was related to going over $1k per transaction, and swiping a second time was a trick to get around some kind of hard coding, but just yesterday I made a ~$1,025 purchase and it went through on the first swipe. So I don't know.

Are guys like you that are doing big spends (i know, $2k is not that big) using Bluebird or doing CAs?

Just curious about the preferred method as I'm going to start chipping away at my Chase SP $3k spend soon.

Tried today at my local CVS and no issues. Will get another pair in the next few days and say goodbye to my amex Hilton card.

Literally doing the same thing for the points, and gf is doing it too...convenient for a couple of nights coming up in the Phuket Hilton

Hit five different stores today and went 5-for-5, picked up 10 VRs all on either CC or GC. Everything seems quite normal.

Are you using BB for all those?

Does anyone know if this 1k hard coded in the system?

I went to numerous CVS to get my card.
I know 1 of them is 1k rule, so i dont really bother to check the other one.
but yesterday, I asked one of the rep if i can buy more than 2, she seems up to it (we can try..she said), but I dont carry the card that I want to use for 2k (1 time transaction).

It is nice if i can do a mix of 1 card, 2 cards, 3 cards, or 4 cards so it wont be showing in my cards with 950 - 1020 range all the time purchases to CVS.

thks!

For now yes + using MVD as slowly as a tortoise. I had some left over Amex GC and USBank MC GC that I couldn't get to work at WM no matter what I did.

I've had success buying more than $1k at a single store but you really need a fearless (and savvy) cashier for it to work. Most of them start to get nervous if you go higher than that and then start to question the whole transaction. So, for me, it's just easier to self-limit at $1k.

My one day record is 22 at 14 stores

Exactly. Of the 5 stores I work, I have just one weekday night shift cashier who will work with me on multiple 2 card transactions. The others freak at the mere suggestion of doing more than a single transactions. I also find the weekend cashiers tend to be more jumpy.

The other trick is to buy 2 at the pharmacy in the back (throw in some tylenol or something), and then on the way out pick up 2 more and buy at front register using a different card. YMMV, depending on the store. 2 of the 5 will usually let me buy at the pharmacy, the other 3 usually tell me to take them to the front.
