I think I just got sick...

horseymen Mar 29, 2014 2:09 pm

I think the best reason to do this on 3/31 (as some people asked) is to avoid the appearance of an April Fools day joke..

mittenfingerz Mar 29, 2014 2:15 pm

So, who can say? How closely does this resemble the unfolding of Office Depot's policy change on VR?

horseymen Mar 29, 2014 2:17 pm

We need a Marathon Man soundtrack of best mourning music.

I'm thinking Funeral for a Friend by Elton John to start us out...

Office Depot pulled the VRs from their shelves quickly (around Thanksgiving 2012) after Bluebird went live and the red circles and arrows pictures appeared, but then you could still buy the $500 variable load Visas. They then cut it down to $200 max and pulled the variable loads from their shelves. OD finally went cash only on all prepaids August (?) last summer.

I can buy $200 fixed prepaids at OD with CC ...

Son of a b*tch. I'm still seeing some wiggle room in there for some of my spend, but the VR part will cost me time and money. I'm still holding out hope that this is an elaborate hoax, or at least a regional thing. Otherwise, time to start getting creative.

For some reason I thought they went cash only back in August? I'm not speaking from experience here but rather trying to remember the timeline. I never got into OD/Ink Bold.

I'm not sure which card the "MyVanilla VL" is. One Vanilla is reloadable while the vanilla GC is not. If this is implemented, I doubt you'll be able to buy the OV card, but visa GC seem to be safe.

Reaching out to my friend, a cvs store manager. Will see.

The MyVanilla Debit probably. Which is different from OneVanilla.

That is awesome, unfortunately we will have to educate the clerks because they will think they are prepaid reloads. Just like when I went in to CVS this morning and they told me that the OVC were going to be cash only.
