I went to my CVS, and one my favorite cashier (who never loaded Serve before, VRs yes). She press on her monitor "load Prepaid", then the amount. Then swipe the Serve card, and a denied screen came up. She tried it like 4 times with two different Serve card. I told her that was weird since her manager did it yesterday. She said,"Sorry, next time you see the manager, ask him how he does it" I don't think there is anything special, and I think she is doing it right. FYI: 1 Serve card was new, and activated last night. 2nd Serve card only has 3k load this month. |
Thanks. I will try again tonight.
Both my Serve cards are Permanent cards. |

New register requirement.. had CSR's at 2 different CVS's in northern Philly burbs comment on this in the past day... register now flashing a button asking CSR "Is the customer standing in front of you" when initial VR is rung up.
Both CSR's said there has been a lot of "very odd" activity lately with VRs and green dots..... individuals calling into the stores (mostly on overnight shift) trying to get CSR to activate cards and give PIN numbers to caller..... Hopefully this new requirement works and cuts down on fraud activity.... if not, and if CVS can't effectively stop the fraudsters, the end may be in sight for CVS allowing CC for VRs |

Bought 2K worth today in Bucks. No issues. This must be store specific. Hopefully they contain it and the fraudsters move to another area.

For those thinking of switching to Serve, just be aware that CVS stores that are cash-only for VRs MIGHT be cash-only for Serve reloads as well. I'm not certain on this, but comments on several threads indicate that this might be a possibility.
If you have trouble finding VRs, then by all means switch...but if you can find VRs and just have trouble buying them with CC, you might not be all that much better off with Serve (other than $1k CC load online). |

I'm sure some of those idiots read this forum. Let me address them for a moment:
You idiots that abuse a system, take things too far, hide VRs or other cards because you can't buy as many as you want at one visit, you who step over the line of legal manufactured spending, please stop for a moment and take time to think. You ruin systems, businesses and profit for all. You get yourself shut down as well as many others who, unlike you, stay within the rules. You are not interested in longevity. You only focus on right now and your habits. You know what I'm talking about. Especially when you decrease the slope of the learning curve by indiscriminately spoon feeding anyone with a half thought out question and half a dozen posts this is often what results. Unscrupulous people getting ahold of your systems and mess you up. Hell they don't even have to be registered to read your spreadsheets and flow charts. PMs are your friends folks. Don't be shocked when you leave your goods laying out in public and a criminal comes along and does what he wants with it. |

On vacation in Honolulu, and disappointed that the entire rack of VRs were gone at a Longs location in residential Honolulu. :( . Guess I will have to shop around various Longs locations to see if I can score some VRs.

Anybody get a transaction rejected by Chase?
At the local CVS (Longs) ... I bought 2 one day, no problem (license was scanned). went back a couple of days later tried to buy 2 + 1, the first transaction of 2 with through went through no problem (license scanned), the 2nd transaction with 1, the cashier got a message to use a different form of payment. I just had her cancel that transaction. When I got home, there's an email from chase fraud prevention asking if I knew about the rejected transaction for $503.95. I took care of that and they said I could do the transaction again if I wanted it. I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to buy 5 in a single visit or not next month (in 3 transaction of course). I guess I'll find out. -David |

Next time you can just call them in advance and notify of the large purchase...once that transaction clears, most likely it will work fine after that. |
"They aren't being charged 2-3% like your neighbor who knits baby sweaters and takes payments via Square."
