Uh, are you aware that the post you cited doesn't actually prove your point? What you are supposing is collusion between a CVS employee, specifically a store manager, and customers in order to facilitate the latter's ability to m/s. mayday23 is clearly a lone wolf.

So, I second that you are conjuring up scenarios from nothing.

There's also a lot of VR fraud on instagram and twitter. Search #vanillareload and you'll find lots of interesting individuals offering to flip your money for you. The claim is they can return 10X your money because they work for Incomm and can add a 0 to your funds balance once they know the code on the back of your VR.

Scam works by having the goat buy a VR and send the code on back to the individuals on instagram/twitter. Then like your Uncle King in Africa, communication breaks down.

But it looks so legit, and he PROMISES it's not a scam!

LoL, you guys are reading it wrong. I'm not actually accusing any CVS employees of any wrong doing in my OP. I'm just messing with mayday23 since he admitted that he hides VRs and every man for himself. He shouldn't be suprised if maybe the employees are hiding them too (resulting in VR supply being depleted quickly).

I was buying some VRs at CVS today, and first time through my Amex was denied. I wanted to see if the Amex app was giving an alert, but instead I got an email beginning: "The United States Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network "

Fortunately, just about my tax return, but a little scary at first!

No, just pointing out that you have no basis for your conjecture. I didn't tell you not to post it. And no, we didn't read it wrong. You wrote it wrong if you meant it to be a joke.

I was told 2 weeks ago that I could not purchase cards because someone online next to me coincidentally bought them a well and we might be "working together".

Looks like he goes one step further and GUARANTEES it's not a scam!

there's two options cit icards and citibank credit card. which one should i chose? i would think both will be fine but wanted to ask the experts.

just got the reserve from citi.

thanks in advance.

Is this still the CVS thread?????

I just wanted to say, "Thank You CVS for allowing me to purchase VRs, VGCs, etc. etc. etc. with my Credit Card!". :p

Sincerely yours,

Mr. and Mrs. Traveler

Have a nice day :)

I've used 'CITIBANK CREDIT CARD' for all kinds of citi CCs (both personal and business ones) since the beginning and never had any problems.
You should post this in the BB thread.

It's crazy to me that it's the fault of the financial instrument that people are falling for these idiotic scams. So mom & pop, Mr. & Mrs. Gullible are lured into a scam. So, lock down the 'device'?

That's like saying: Oh no! people are getting carjacked, so from now on cars will store no gas. You have to bring your own gasoline and prove that it is yours -- not the car.. the gas! (I know this isn't a perfect metaphor, but my point is: it's silly!)

I always say Thank You when I'm asked for ID to verify I'm the CC owner. If this was practice more widely and universally enforced, fraud wouldn't be so rampant. Those of you who take umbrage at being ID'd... why? I get why getting it scanned sucks (black choppers and Janet Reno and all that, natch)... but verifying name and face = ID is just plain good business.

I'm surprised that offer is going on for that long, that made everyone
and his grandma go for it :(

VRs don't hurt wallets. People do.
