have you received the extra 15k for the $5k spend yet?

While I was buying $4k yesterday my cashier was startled/puzzled by the new prompts on his screen. I guess not too so many people are MSing at this location if he hasn't seen it before.

Got the prompts this AM in Fairfax, VA. This was the first time I'd seen the questions in a store. The cashier seemed surprised as well, and this is a location that does get a lot of VR buyers.

The questions popped up after the first VR scan. The cashier just answered ok or yes to the questions, and the purchase proceeded normally.

Had to clear out a CVS today sorry :-/
Same old ID scan, no Qs

During a recent visit, the cashier just rang up $500 per VR on his own initiative without even asking. That was nice of him.

So I went to my local CVS in Socal 626. I didn't buy the bean (had 2 beans on the rack). I went to the cashier (which is also the manager, I dealt with him before, never an issue). Usually I buy bean or load my Serve with CC. Today I loaded 1k with my AMEX GC. He looked at it, and asked if it was a gift card. I said,"yes".

Then he said,"I see a lot of people loading, why are you doing it?" I said,"I do it for travel points" He said,"this is not money laundering or something?" I said,"no, just travel points". He said,"you travel alot?" I said,"I want to".

The cashier checked my card based on prompt few days ago. She had never seen the screen before and another cashier indicated it was due to people calling in to make purchases which I didn't even know was possible.

Also got the prompt in Chicagoland just now. No issues but the cashier said she'd never seen that before.

Bought 4 VRs in two separate transactions today with no issues (two different cards), I think the screen may have come up both times but she didnt say anything, just had a weird look on her face. She said to me "why do you guys do this? for points?" i just replied saying it allows me to pay rent with a CC. This was in socal 619.

Got 5k of beans here in NJ today. Cashier got the same screen about "Is the person standing in front of you?" but didn't ask my phone number. This cashier and I have a good rapport, so we had a nice conversation about the number of people that come buying gift cards who are clearly getting scammed. She said they often call the police to talk them out of it.

Also, ran into my first other MS'er today. He was also buying VRs. To him, I have to say, be cool, man, be cool. You looked way too nervous. And don't try to negotiate with the cashiers.

Yeah, too many seem to feel shady going in and buying the beans. I personally like to go in wearing a trench coat, fedora hat, and sunglasses. :D But really... at this point I think everybody knows what everyone is doing. The local cashiers don't even skip a beat ringing me up anymore. I'm wondering how many are getting scammed? I haven't purchased a VR since they started asking these questions.

Also, where in NJ are you? My daily commute takes me through Middlesex and Mercer Counties and into Bucks County, PA.

I'm in Mercer County. I headed into Bucks to take advantage of the OM promotion since there aren't any in NJ. Hit up a CVS while I was there that had clearly never seen an MS'er before!

I don't understand getting scammed? Who is getting scammed? The person buying the cards? Why would they call the police?

You stopped purchasing VRs because they asked these questions or you just haven't been in since this started?

There are numerous reports in this thread and elsewhere of people being duped into buying VR and other reload cards then sending them to a scammer claiming to be the IRS or something else.
