Just to pile on here, and you've already gotten some great advice.

I typically buy as much as they will let me. Some cashiers want to break them up into more than one transaction (one guy says his register freaks out if he does that much at once), but I don't freak out about the DL scan since I'm not doing anything illegal. In fact, I feel better that they scan my card since it helps to prevent fraud from others.

I've had conversations with the cashier's at the 2 CVS stores I frequent and they know who I am so they know I'm not doing anything illegal. I know their rules better than they do. One of the cashiers asked me the other day what the daily limit was. :)

awesome, thank you all for the friendly advise. i've been MS on a small case as i mentioned to pay my car note...but my goal now is to spend to meet my minimum.

def i will CHECK my VR before buying it, thanks for the heads up as i haven't been doing that and i guess been lucky with that.

I also have the citi HH that with the 2500 minimum so i guess i'll start slowly on all cards, the rest are small 750 for the amex HH and 1k hyatt card.

another question , do you guys pay your credit card with BB? i thinking of contacting my lender on my mortgage and see if i can pay them with a check ( if they aren't on the BB list) so i can pay the funds out of the BB.

i am thinking of starting small scale items this week and hit 500 each on each card next week. that'll give me two weeks of some transactions. good advise to keep my card handy just incase its flagged as fraud alert. i May not do the 1k limit as i am not comfortable with that yet. i may do 500 a few times a week since the two stores i frequent have beans so far.

any MSers in Houston ( Katy), TX? ! need to network i guess .

thanks again !

Headed to NYC for the weekend. Staying in Manhattan. I can already predict now the GF & friends getting annoyed that I want to stop inside every CVS I see.

Haha! It was so tempting for me too. I forced myself not to lookup their locations, and luckily I only ran across one. Though, there are tons of DRs and RAs, and I was guilty of just "looking around" in some...

Is there an app or a website, such as FuelMyRoute.com, that shows all the CVS locations along a route?

The only thing that ran through my mind was: "small potatoes."

Did you take it? :D

Darn, the manager at my go-to CVS by my house just told me that they'll need to call the bank to verify identity next time (and from now on). They've been getting ripped off by those disputing charges or credit card fraud. More added hassle.

Where in nj are you? Ive been lucky not running into such problems at cvs. But things can always change. Im surprised that even though you are a frequent customer, they will treat u the same.

FYI, So I have been buying Beans. 496 x 2 per CC. No issue. Then I did 500 x 2 per cc. After the 3.95 fee, it went over 1k. They had to scan my DL for each CC. I do not really care, but I think I will go back to $496 x 2 per CC.

The scan criterion is >= $1K, not strictly > $1K, and the fees don't count. One cashier told me that she has a customer who regularly does $500 + $499.99 to avoid the scan.

Who cares if they scan your DL?! It is just a way to enforce their $1k or $5k daily limit. As someone else said, doing $500 and $499 seems MUCH more suspicious since you are actively avoiding getting your DL scanned. I have a friend who is a manager at CVS. Trust me, if a manager sees that, your $5k limit will go down to $0 for that store.

I think its people don't understand why CVS is enforcing the DL scan. The DL scan is used to ensure people don't buy more than $5K/day in VRs but also to ensure they have information in case people skip town. If you pay your bill down every month, people shouldn't be afraid of the DL scan. If a DL scan is what makes CVS more comfortable about all this, then so be it. Id rather still have CVS as a way to get VRs on CC than none at all. It boggles my mind why people think they would rather leave than to comply. Oh well more beans for me.

Yup and they also do it for MO's to keep it under a certain amount (may be $5k too, IDK).

commdiver Mar 5, 2014 1:14 pm

How much do most of you get at CVS in a month if you are working with multiple BBs, VDCs, etc.? Do you generally do $5k max at each CVS location, or do you come back after a few days?

I had a good laugh today. I went to a gas station that carries VRs. I got one to test the location out since I have never been there. I asked for $500 on it. The guy goes "Five HUNDRED?!?!". This was followed by a "cash only". Oh, well...

sosamo Mar 5, 2014 1:34 pm

I only have 1 CVS out of 5 within 5miles that accept CC. All of them are out of Bean. One had a few beans on the rack that says,"are available at counter". Went and asked for 1 x $500. She said,"Cash only".

So I do about 10-20k at 1 CVS. I come back like every other day or so, about 2k each time. For now I can only load to 2 Serve account since there are no Beans. I am really considering to close my BB and get Serve. But I want to have alternatives.

goblue77 Mar 5, 2014 1:36 pm

One location I frequent couldn't do all 5k at once. Had to break it up into 2 transactions. Hope it's not a sign of things to come.
