So if you're buying MOs, the limit is 10k per month then so it is a POS transaction?

Do tell. The receipt doesn't give enough info, I don't think.
FWIW, I actually did ask if there was any way to get a MO for no fee and was told no. |
Datapoint, FWIW --
I used MyV to make an estimated tax payment of $4990, through Official Payments, which charged me the flat $3.95 applicable to debit card transactions. But ... the transaction shows up as two separate charges ($4990.00 and $3.95), so MyV charged me 50 cents for each one. B__tards. |
I'm thinking about jumping this ship but I got 2 quick question about the fees.
Are you paying $3.95 on top of the VR reload fee? My next question is are people using BP at WM to unload? I'm thinking about shying away from MO for various other reasons. WM is about 10 mins away from me too. Any tips would be useful :) I read about the past 20 pages and I'm still confused lol. |

So why is it a surprise to you that they show up as 2 transactions at MVD and correctly be charged $0.50 each? Have you ever redeemed some airline awards over the phone and have to pay a phone booking fee? The taxes and the phone booking fee are charged separately despite the agent told you the lump sum - because the taxes and fees are not from the airlines which only act as agents to collect such on behalf of the governments and airports. The phone booking fee is from the airline as its service. Same concept as related to your tax payment. |

I also don't think there is anything on the receipt to decode, as OP suggested. It was probably just a fluke at a particular WM as jiffyjiff stated.

@babycakes01 -- FWIW, I usually wind up using all three payment processors, given transaction size limits (MyV) and limit of 2 payments per processor per quarter. You can verify each payment was received by the IRS at the eftps.gov website.
In addition to using one of these payment processors to pay state and local tax (with fee), there are also a couple of states out there that will accept credit and/or debit card payments without imposing a fee. |

At the risk of belaboring the point: I am well aware of how total charge gets allocated btwn IRS and payment processor. But since from customer view there is only one (virtual ) swipe, it seems a bit greedy for MyV to double charge.
It is TWO virtual swipes done at the processor's end due to the nature of the total payment must be split. Your service provider sent TWO request of payment to MVD, one for the bucket holds payment to IRS, one for the bucket for service provided. MVD received TWO requests of debit from your tax payment service provider, that is why 2 $0.50 appearing on your statement. The airline redemption example is about as layman as I could think off to illustrate HOW the lump sump payment is processed. Since the lump sum must be split into TWO items to process them separately, hence the 2 fees, one for each process. Plain and simple. And by glory, it is an additional $0.50... out of almost $5K transaction... |
hi, Does anyone know the weekly limit for C Adv ? I already did 4K earlier this week and was wondering if I can do another 5K today ?
thanks |
I did a cash advance today at a local bank - I don't have an account with them. However, they required two forms of ID (which I am assuming is normal) before they handed me the cash..hope MVD doesn't shut me down. I already did one money order for $ 1000 earlier this week. Will order another couple of MVD (since you are allowed to have three MVDs per SSN). Don't know if I should try the bill pay feature.

They suggested I could do "credit" transactions, which have a separate $6000 weekly limit. Anyone else ever bump into these limits... or even know these limits existed? For the person who posted asking about leaving a card idle, no fees as long as you have activity in a 90 day period (load or spend); after that it's something like $3.95 or $4.95/month. |
