If so, is limit $1000/day as it is with Serve?

That is the big question, since the CVS register load is like a VR purchase I don't see why it wouldn't work for any card that accepts VR's as a way of funding.

As far as limits it $20 min and $500 max with MVD. That is per transaction I don't know what the load limit it, I'd imagine it is the same as the PP card terms and conditions.

No, you can't load anymore, only spend (except online)

Thanks. what happens if I try to reload using the VR?

Another data point for this train wreck of a product:
One of my cards went to spend down mode today after the following activity for the month:
$4K in loads (no more than $500 daily)
$2K in M.O. purchases

wanna go now Mar 26, 2014 3:25 pm

So, I loaded $2500 ($500 on 5 separate days) on a temporary card, while waiting for my permanent card. No other activity. Today, still no permanent card, but when I tried to load another $500, Vanilla Reload says my card is invalid. Guess I'd better get to the bank to get the money out. Or, maybe it's invalid because my permanent card is in the mail. Guess I'll find out soon enough. I'm only trying this to get my spend for the AA Exec, sure not worth the trouble for anything less.

Tried to CA a temp MVD at my bank and it was declined. It has $500 on it and I tried $500, $499.50, and $498. All three amounts failed. The card is not registered. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

That is the thing now, you can play it conservatively but your account may still get shut down.

I did a high amount of MSing during the past year and the most appealing thing to me about MVD was that you could load/unload a decent amount in a short period of time.
If not for that I don't think MVD is worth the hassle.

Yeah, I'm thinking of stepping up the pace considerably with our 3 remaining cards - shades of GoBank.

People keep asking this, but only one person has really shed any light on this. If you have used up your three cards (i.e. you are now banned or whatever they call it), can you still use temporary cards? One guy said he was on his eighth temporary card.

I am on my fourth permanent card so I'm not sure about this "three card" policy.

I would assume you could use as many temporary cards as you like, except if you are banned, you won't be able to register them.

Interesting data point:

a card that has not been used much just got shut down (i assume, as i get the 'invalid username/pw' when trying to sign in.

this card is about 9 months old and actually sat with a $4k balance for almost 3 months with no activity (i've been busy with other spend, this has no monthly fee, and i didn't care about the $ sitting there- thinking it an account aging experiment). well.... FAIL. added 4k over the past week and... they shut it down without me even doing 1 spend/CA/MO- nothing. they just killed it.

a question: there's over 8k in the account- are they going to let me spend this much down without having to fight and jump thru their hoops/FDIC/etc? this is my sister's account. is the spend down automatic, or will i need to have her call? as i'm sure other's can relate, it sucks when our family helpers' accounts get shut down, cause then we have to drag them into it/make phone calls/etc. she'd detest and feel nervous going into a bank for a CA anyway, so my option would be 9 MO over a few days.

ugh.

I really hate this product. The website sucks and I keep getting error messages. I have only had one card and spent it down and I was at a -.50. I wanted to reload to bring the balance up and it wouldn't let me. Tried everything and then I got too annoyed. I'll get another card, load a few VR reloads on it and then Spend it down.

I believe if you get the account balance by automated message on phone you are able to spend.

thanks. i was able to get the balance on the phone, so hopefully i can blow the money out without having to bother her.

from reading, it sounds like AA doesn't really happen over the weekend, so i will start friday. just what i need, 9 more money orders to have to deposit. i wonder how many SAR's i've generated. the answer may come when the IRS/DEA wake me with a battering ram at the door with a helicopter circling overhead! lol

I know this product is a hassle and a half, but to me the benefit is how you are often just put in spend-down mode when then inactivate you.

They could be like Netspend or plenty of the others that freeze your account and have you wait weeks/months until you receive a check or contact the FDIC.

I know there will come a time when I can no longer get an MVD through my SSN (at least that seems like it's a pattern with over-abuse), but it's why I haven't used my boyfriend's SSN with MVD yet. ;)

So yes we can complain all we want about the unknown limits, etc. but at the end of the day, you can open card after card and get MO after MO (or CA) until they block your SSN. And it seems still pretty rare for them to do that.

Just curious what exactly is the point of MVDs (even if there weren't all the hassles people are going thru?) ... Is this just for people who can get VRs but not VGCs or other GCs? Cause it seem's like y'all are just adding an extra step in the middle, which has a daily limit to add in the mix.

If people are doing it for the cash withdrawal feature, can't imagine anybody would have the patience for $400 at a time... I guess as a last resort of liquidation for sure, but doesnt compute otherwise.

Even with any given scale, surely people aren't doing this to save a buck or two over the card fees (GC vs. VR,) not to mention any initial or other fees MVD itself might have.
