MO. I don't do CA's on MVDs. I used to routinely do $2-2.5k debits but now I keep the debits at $999.50 and under after the last round of shutdowns. YMMV.

IME shutdowns occur during weekly or monthly sweeps. I had several MVDs pushing all the debit limits, so I kept them in the sock drawer for a few weeks. When I pulled one out and loaded just one VR, it got shutdown in 2 days despite having no other activity for that calendar month. YMMV.

Too lazy to type it all out :) I think it just really, really hard to talk about, to share, personal details about our finances. Heads up. There have definitely been some changes with MVD recently. Suddenly I cannot cash advance more than $2500 ($3998 in past has worked fine a few times, as have $3498, $2998). Last week tried $3998, $2998 and neither worked, but then $2498 did. I suspect $2500 daily limit now.
Also, I cannot do another cash advance off the card now and it has been since Friday. This has never been a problem before. Seems like maybe they are instituting a monthly limit perhaps. I'm going to try MOs at WM to see if that works, but i'm not very hopeful at this point. May have to go to ATM and try that as well, all before card gets locked down ha. |
I'm pretty new to MVD but I wanted to post my results. After being shutdown very quickly on my first two cards, I decided to use a different strategy. Specifically, since I believe a shutdown is inevitable, my strategy was to load as much as I could on number 3 and 4 (in my wife's name) before spending. I loaded $500 a day during the week until the weekend when I really ramped it up on both cards. My feeling was that the shutdowns are probably manual and they would have little or no surveillance on the weekends (just a guess). So they would not shut me down until Monday. My plan went as expected. I loaded $2.5k on each card on 4 consecutive days (Friday night, sat, sun and Monday morning). I received the permanent cards on fri. To stay under $10k on each card I made multiple $3k payments to citi aa on the weekend. The end result was that I was able to load $24,500 on the cards combined (49 VRs) in a little over a week -- about a profit of $1K. If I do this again, I would use the same strategy.

Mine just got changed to "spend down" mode. Went to bank and took most of the money out through CA. Can we still load VRs into the MVD when it is in this mode?
