Successfully loaded today via CC at the same location that failed the last few times when I tried with a GC.

That's what I was told when I called AMEX last night, that they had a technical issue last week with their system with swipe reloads.

I will try later today.

Thanks guys. I was near a campus over the weekend, but I didn't make it in the store. I'm hoping this is working so I can start loading up.

You could only cycle through $6k/yr on the CE, I highly doubt that would happen.

And confirmed loading works today.

I'd assume both. I used a CC today.

Last week when I went, the cashier swiped the card and nothing would go through on the POS

I used a credit card to load up my Amex CE for the first time today. Worked fine. Did two consecutive loads of $500 with a $3.95 fee each time. No problems.

Loaded $500 today. I didn't want to do 1k. The guy told me that they couldn't load it. I reference the sign. He mumbled some things and then the lady did it.

my barnes and noble refused to let me load my permanent card...they said they would only load the disposable. i showed them their displays that seemed to not state that to no avail. i saw the temp cards have a 4.95 fee -- is that a wash then? maybe i should just buy disposables over and over.

You can just keep buying disposables I bet. I think the fee is the same.

Fee to load the reloadable is $3.95 and allows you to have ATM access and other registered benefits like lost/stolen.

See if you can try a different cashier or manager. Most people have no clue how to go about loading the amex
