Have anyone used Discover card for AP? Do they consider this as Cash Advance or regular purchase?

Thanks.

rashomon, how they consider the transaction depends on their perspective

Thank you.

I have used AMEX and citicards before on AP, but I just wanted to make sure the Discover treats as purchases.

Last year around this time, AP counted for me on Discover. That's for online shopping. With the quarter bonus on Chase Freedom being Amazon.com specifically, well, all I can say is I will be taking a chance. No prior experience for that.

Does this same setup A>B>C... work with PP as well? Can you open multiple accounts with them as you can with AP?

PP officially allows you to have 2 accounts per person, a personal and a business account. I have two (for the business account, I just entered my name for the business name as a sole proprietor). No idea what happens if you try to open more than two but personally I wouldn't risk it.

If you have 2 to 3 AP accounts under your SS, do you get a 1099 for going over the $20K limit combined amongst all of your accounts?

I'm not sure that is accurate, although I'm not a tax expert. The 1099K is a "Payment Card and Third Party Network Transactions" reporting form. Suffice it to say that if you conduct transactions within the limits on the form, you will have one of these forms filled out. Take a look at the form online and also take a look at AP's explanation of when they report via the 1099K.

$20,000+ AND 200+ transactions makes you an "online merchant" and you'll get a 1099-K. Ask me how I know. :(

can someone tell me if this scenario is a problem...

i set up two ap accounts as myself, A and B
I get a family member to be set up as C

I use identical creditcard X in both A and B to send money to C...
amazon gonna fry my accounts?

Through just one company (i.e. AP or PayPal), or all transactions combined?

It's going to be a problem in that if A and B both send 1k in a month to C you are going to pay fees.

I would use different CC numbers for each account.

it seems relatively safe if people do A -> B -> C -> A (A and C are the same person with different emails and bank accounts and credit numbers). However, since A and C use the same SSN, won't it raise an issue that the person could receive >$20000 a year and would be reported to IRS?

I believe it's per online payment processor company. I got mine last year from PayPal. I had over $20k in received payments* and well over 200 transactions.

*PayPal says that "gift" purchases (ie: between family and friends) is not included in their formula. Only legitimate payments for goods and services.

Exactly my point. With even two accounts your SSN will have received $24K, which is greater than the $20K trigger point. What do you do then?
