Amazon seems to be having trouble verifying my SSN and identity information. I get the error:
As a result of changes to federal regulation, Amazon Payments is required to verify your identity. This functionality is temporarily disabled, pending verification of your information. |

Any idea how long this normally takes to clear up? Anyone I should call to expedite this? |

Sometimes this is a sign of permanent account suspension. You can get this message on existing accounts as well as new accounts. The AP messages are not always what they seem.
Just watch for landmines in the jungle as it is not a walk in the park anymore.

That is what happened on three attempts for me. Finally got a confirmation that the second attempt was approved! I have NO idea what the problem was.

Using a US-based automatic identity verification service. Not all US nationals verify, however, especially young adults. Tell your husband to become a US citizen - then we can tax him to death to pay off our US debt. Oops, forgot, we ain't ever gonna pay off the debt as weez a democracy and weez going Greek.:p

I tried to sign my non-USA citizen husband up and they won't take him because no SSN. I tried putting in 999-99-9999 and thought it went through, then got a message that they couldn't verify "certain details". Why is AP only doing business with US citizens? They ship all over the world! Any work-arounds (PM me if it's sensitive). I have no one else but him that I would trust to send $1000 to.

Quick question: I bought a car from my dad for $1300. I can pay him over a couple of months as needed. Should I split it up like $650 one month and $650 the next month? Any problems using Delta AMEX Reserve? I'm assuming I select "goods and services"?
Sorry I know this is simplistic but I figure everyone in here knows AP like the back of their hand. I just want to get closer to my spend thresholds etc and get points as opposed to just sending him a check in the snail mail. |
But there is a SSN and drivers license challenge and something more (maybe a credit inquiry). The "something more" is what snags the young adults and possibly non-citizens. Dunno who they are using for the robo look up there.

AP is absolutely fine to use for non-citizens. No work-arounds required. (I am therefore assuming this is not in itself the cause of your problem).

No sure at the Delta Amex Reserve CC though, that will be for someone else to answer. |

Looks like it cleared itself up on its own. I was just about to call them. I found the page where you type in a phone number and amazon calls you.
Works fine now. |

Received new terms & conditions for my Travelocity Card from Barclay's.
They changed the definition of cash equivalent: "Cash Equivalent means the use of your Card or account number to obtain money orders, traveler's checks, foreign currency, lottery tickets, gambling chips, wire transfers, person to person money transfers (including but not limited to transfers facilitated over the internet) or use of your account to open a deposit account or to transfer value to a stored value card at a location or through a merchant other than a financial institution and any other transaction that MasterCard, Visa, and/or American Express (as applicable to your Account) may designate as a cash equivalent. Now, I don't read the T&C often, but I saw "change in the definition of cash equivalent" and thought that was interesting... I've used it for Amazon payments in the past and will probably give it another shot next month. |
