Not sure really what is going on at the moment- however the last press I saw for the estcapital project didn't have any mention of Four Seasons on it... Anyway- for sure this is going to take a few years in any direction.

on the early work will begin 2012 2 000 new residents
irrelevant i guess. is 2015 also not connected to lido?

and of course residences may be contingent on sales

From what I am hearing the FS Lido project is off. Originally, the old Excelsior was going to be turned into a FS and Hotel des Bains (where they filmed Death in Venice and is just up the road from the Excelsior) into residences. Sounds as though there were serious disagreements between owner and FS, probably because FS wanted to do it properly!

When San Clemente Palace first opened in 2003, management said that FS was approached but that owners wanted an Italian management group, so they hired Turin Hotels International - http://www.thi.it/ - who seemed to be a bit out of their depth.

I always felt that this hotel should be a FS. Its finish is very good, so it would not take too much for FS to bring it up to scratch. Let us hope the owner is finally seeing sense.

Actually the San Clemente is being sold off to Asian investors and they want to build a FS ( most probable) or a RC.

and ur right , San Clemente would be a better FS , better than on the Lido IMO

I agreed wholeheartedly, Vuittons. With excellent service, an expansion of the spa, and an update of the gym, this could be a Four Seasons. And, it would put Venice back on my travel circuit. Lets hope the owners are willing to make the investment to turn this into a Four Seasons!

Ahhh, this explains it! I did not realise San Clemente was being sold off.

I agree that the location of San Clemente would be a much better site for FS, although I have always loved the Lido, especially when Ciga were managing Excelsior and des Bains - happy days (and beach cabanas, of course!).

The LIDO project was quite interesting because of the golf course, marina, residences, and the new theatre (for the film festival) as well as IIRC a casino expansion? In any event, there are more than a few question marks at the moment, and it is seriously they are doubtful solely because of disagreeements of FS and the ownership group. The entire LIDO re-vitalization doesn't seem to be moving at the minute.

The Hôtel des Bains will be transformed into a full service residence, with an additional boutique hotel of 15 suites.

The Excelsior will join German Worldhotels group.
