I heard about this from a FS GM. He also said they were close to getting something in Rome, which would be brilliant.

Two more lesiure properties? Well, I guess Rome is sort-of-biz, but not really. Either way, I would certainly embrace it. Venice needs this just as much as Florence did.

Very high-end leisure properties, though, in locations which can take a high room rate. Given the dreadful state and room rates at 'luxury' Venice properties, it can't open soon enough.

Given how few deluxe leisure properties there are in Europe, a couple of FS beach resorts on the Venice Lido strikes me as an excellent idea. I do hope they retain the boat shuttles to the mainland, as these were superb in the old days.

Im sure they will. The Excelsior still does, right? The W.Ex is not the worst hotel on the planet, but the FS will set the standard so much higher. Let the countdown begin.

This is jmo but personally, I regret that FS's first presence in Venice will be on the Lido and not in Venice proper.

That's a perfectly valid opinon!

I'd actually prefer Canareggio to Lido or the St. Marks madness, but beggars cant be choosers.

Oh no, I used to love staying on the Lido when Ciga managed those hotels - so stylish, and there were always regular shuttles to the mainland. Great for families, and let's not forget there is a fantastic beach there. Venice proper is fine for first-timers, but if you go to Venice regularly, say for the Bienalle, then you need to escape to a pool at the end of the day.

I tend to agree- suspect it will be a project together with Est Capital which is looking to restore the building/gardens of the old hospital on the water and create a luxury hotel as well as some apartments (perhaps time share sales).

yes, as posted. RealVenice project with Fund manager EstCapital SGR. residences are serviced apartments, either for rent or sale.

just noticed residences also mentions 2 villas...?

timeshares = 1 week, FS only has 2 - aviara and scottsdale
fractionals = multiple weeks, lots of luxury ones, including palazzo tornabuoni (FS in florence)
