FS is "proposed" and in "design" = may never happen.
disney residences having 6 month min lease also seems odd.

Baku/Azerbijan must be a big location for the FS and the current Park Hyatt brands to set up properties. I didn't even know FS was going into Baku. The building looks very nice.

FS China Invasion

In the July edition of brillant Gallivanter's Guide, Lyn is not only reporting from FS Hangzhou and Amanfayun, but also gossiping about 10 (!) new chinese Four Seasons in the next years:

- Quingdao on the Marina in 2013, but sadly a resort with a disgusting room count of 200+ rooms... As chinese authorities can censor everything, why couldn't they censor FS from even thinking about such unpersonal projects, which are not good for a real luxury brand at all?

- Guangzhou - set to open in late 2011

- Sanya on the Southern Tip of Hainan Islands

- Sozhou, an UNESCO site with classical gardens and canals

- Beijing 1 in the embassy area

- Beijing 2 in Financial Street

- Shenzhen Business Hotel

- Tianjin Business Hotel

- Hangzhou 2, also a business hotel complementing the West Lake property

- Chengdu, a mix of business and leisure in the city of spices

- Shanghai Pudong business hotel, opening mid 2012

Sounds like a little too much business hotels instead of resorts, too high room counts instead of private, personal and individual places with 60 to 120 rooms - and also sounds like FS has to open a huge hotelier academy in China to educate enough high quality staff...!

FS Hangzhou at West Lake includes Residences, too, but these are massive villas in the grounds - 3 of which are available to hotel guests. The 2nd Hangzhou hotel will have apartments - same owner.

Any idea of when Beijing will open?

The room count doesn't bother me for a resort. Maui has 380 rooms and suites, Hualalai has 243, and Nevis has 196.

True Luxury contradicts high room count

Really? I absolutely prefer sharing a beach, a fitness room and a breakfast restaurant with 40 to 80 people like at an Amanresort - compared to sharing it with 760 people at - no matter - a 380 room Four Seasons or a 380 room Novotel... That creates in most cases a feeling of package-tour mass tourism, and not one of individuality and luxury.

So in my eyes, Four Seasons devaluates it's brand with every resort bigger than 150 rooms - since it could not give ambitious travellers the safe feeling of a true luxury hotel.

Remember: The best Four Seasons like Golden Triangle, Sayan, Hangzhou, Milan, Provence or Florence have between 15 and maximum 120 rooms!
