This was true. I once returned to my suite at an Amanresort in Bali to find the housekeeper checking everything. He was a little flustered and excused himself quickly. Only when he had gone did I notice that he had left behind his clipboard. When I looked to see what it was, I realised it was our guest history, in minute detail, including our relationship status, which interestingly, was wrong!
interesting "same country" (indonesia, india / sri lanka, china, US)

MacMyDay reporting on computerizing is interesting
hopefully focus on preferences, not 'loyalty program'

Just back from the Aman event (was anyone else there?)

Aman Shanghai announced officially. Opening date still yet to be set (approx a year at least). Huge restoration project - looks to be a mansion/Chinese-manor style property on the outskirts, surrounded by beautiful scenery. Let's see; looks promising...

Bunch of new Aman villas (size seems to be usable area rather than plot area)
- Amanjena (4-8 bedrooms upto 1,500 sqm)
- Amanwella (2-5 bedrooms upto 850 sqm)
- Amankila (upto 4 bedrooms upto 850 sqm)
- Amanwana (upto 4 bedrooms, 400 sqm)

Plus Amanoi, Amanera, Amanpuri, Amanyara, Amanzoe all listed (properties still unsold or some available for re-sale I guess)

Senior Guest Services Manager Amangani June 2011 – May 2015
Guest Services Manager's responsibility to become a central coordinator of the entire resort. It is their responsibility to know where the guests are at all times and what their plans are so that we may adjust our restaurant, bellmen, and housekeeping accordingly. Through this coordination, our guests never wait for a table or their car, and they never see a housekeeper servicing their suite, thus providing them with optimal service.

Does anyone know the rack rate for Amangiri? I can't find anything less than $2100 on the website all through the year.

Dynamic rates now. I paid 1200 plus fees in February/March which i think is there lowest season. 10% service charge, 6.95% sales tax, 4.25% transient room tax and 4.25% state occupancy tax. From what I recall the website does list the room rate with all taxes and fees inclusive.

Thanks for clarifying FDW. When is shoulder season for giri?

I see $1500 in March, '17 as well. How was your experience in low season?

Looks like it's a baserate of $1250 plus all the other taxes and fees....

Oddly the website doesn't show any availability for February/early March... wonder what that's about...

We had a great time.. weather was a bit hit or miss but still tolerable. Loved the pool there... I would not want to be there though when it's hot....

Here's my trip report...

Wasn't able to attend any of the events as was & am currently in a different continent but family that went said they were very well attended .

Glad to know that the villas are finally getting the go ahead . We shall see ..

My various Aman luggage tags were missing when I arrived in JFK from SEA .
( It somehow really bothers me that this happened , plus TSA checks .. should watch out for our check in luggage too .. )
Excuse to return to the affected Amans ?
My FT tag went missing even earlier !

Are these tags so popular ? Hand carry too .

Anyone else had similar experiences ?

Amandari also has a green-ish hue.

Yea I never put the tags on check-in. Hand-carry only; or better yet, I don't even use them as tags and just collect them

I use tags from other hotels (not as nice).

At many of the Amans , the stealth teams tagged our luggage when they are taken away when we check out ..
& I only notice at check in , the lovely new Aman specific one added on ( to other Amans ) & sometimes only on arrival .
The Pulo tags & few others are not sullied ( these were not tagged by the Pulo stealth team ) & kept aside .
Must say the Aman tags have helped in baggage claim - easy bag / luggage identification .

During our stay at Amanyara they had our food preferences from previous Aman visits (in Asia) centrally displayed in their main kitchen which my wife discovered during a back of house tour.
