NEW YORK CITY, New York – During Travel Agent’s ongoing coverage of the annual Caribbean Week events, we sat down with Mark Anthony Graham Brantley, Nevis’ newly elected tourism minister, and learned that the sister island to St. Kitts is looking to add Aman Resorts to its portfolio of luxury boutique resorts.
Brantley told us that although “there are still some small matters that need to be finalized,” the plans call for a roughly 40-room resort to be built on the opposite side of the island of the Four Seasons Nevis, currently the island’s most popular luxury resort. The Aman Resort would be located roughly 15 miles away and will also include an array of villas as well as a new golf course.
“We really think this is a great fit for the destination,” he says “If you know Aman, then you know they usually like to pick these off-the-beaten path destinations and Nevis is exactly that in the Caribbean.”

Any update on the opening for Amanoca? Just got back from Amansara 5 nights, and GM Sally on top of her game as everyone said--amazing. Also, Audrey (F&B) is going places we think.

I've just returned from the Banda Islands in Indonesia. It was my second visit, though only as a day-trip this time aboard an expedition cruise ship. In 1990 we spent a week at the Maulana Inn, run by an amazing man called Des Alwi who died two years ago. It was quite a trendy little place, though in no sense was it more than a one star hotel. Zecha has often been rumoured to be taking it over. We called in and were given a tour. No one seemed to be staying there - it seems to cater to divers nowadays and that's fairly seasonal. Some of it was very run-down, though we were shown one room which seemed surprisingly luxurious, with a few Aman touches in its decor. Banda is an incredible place, currently without any regular air service.

Love Audrey - I think she was behind creating the amazing vegetarian menu there, plus Chef Molly. Great team there at the moment.

The Big Island, USA
The chain of islands that comprise Hawaii are all formed by ancient volcanoes of which the big island of Hawai’i is the youngest. Each island is characterized by volcanic summits with lush tropical forests on the windward side, and dry grass like plains on the leeward side, yet each island possesses unique micro landscapes, culture, history and amenities to be explored. Long before Westerners arrived, the Hawaiian people created the ahupua‘a, a land division that ran continuously from the mountain to the sea, mauka to makai. Starting with the fundamental idea of the mauka-makai trails, the resort is organized such that the daily experience of moving to and from the private suites to the public areas [(Dining / Living / Reception, Pool, and Spa)] will occur along a series of streets that are organized to lead you from the uplands down to the sea. This daily ritual of moving down to the sea and back up towards the framed view of the distant volcanic peaks will become a fundamental aspect of the guest experience and will reinforce the ancient and geologic principles of the land, the people and the culture. [Furthermore to reinforce the Hawaiian idea of place, the streets will be paved with basaltic lava stones further accentuating the underlying geologic lines of energy. These pedestrian streets will collect at the heart of Hotel's Pavilion which will serve as a platform to the sea and the horizon and with its northwest orientation, to the commanding views of the Haleakalaa Mountain on the Island of Maui across the Alenuihaha Channel.

staff reported to me that Zecha was on site three weeks ago and showed them the architectural plans for a 6th Aman in Indonesia, which will be a 20-room renovation of an existing colonial era building on the remote island of Banda Niera (one of the nutmeg islands). The building is at the opposite end of the town from the ocean, abutting the woods.
Banda Neira...I pass through the grounds of the Hotel Maulana...While he was showing me around the old Dutch buildings by the waterfront, my guide pointed out a crumbling colonial relic that has recently been acquired by Adrian Zecha
Banda- Spice Islands
Well, can't remember if I mentioned it last year. Some work has begun plus new boat ( s )- it'll be a nice & welcome extension to Amanwana & the Komodo expedition. Now for more adventure - it'll be just that gettiing there & if you thought going to Amanwana was stretching things

Zecha, while adding he had another ongoing plan to build his sixth Indonesian Amanresorts on Banda island in Moluccas.

It would be so great to see an Aman in the wonderful Kyoto and would be amazing to have 2 Amans in Japan. Actually any new about Aman Tokyo cause the secret is quite well kept...
Interesting, according to the article Aman Kyoto is scheduled to open September 2015. The location Takagamine area is near the Golden Pavilion Temple. It will have 21 rooms and the total resort area is 25,000 square meters. Seems the abandoned Kyoto project has been revived.

next week, announced the start of construction of Cavtat, a luxury hotel chain from "Amanresort"...is expected to complete the work by August...According to the investor, beginning work was extended because the Singaporean architects worked modifications. They were obliged to seven-year-old project installation to adapt the current energy efficiency standards, and provide bank guarantees
handover of Cavtat resort is planned for the end of the summer of 2014., And the opening is likely next year in December.

DYING to hear more about when Amanoca might open, since we are delaying our Brazil dive trip until we can include Amanoca!
