TimeOut Tokyo had a tweet about Aman Tokyo today, including a picture. Looking at the link I noticed it's only an old Aman New Delhi image...

Ahn Luh activity

In the newest GHM Newsletter, there are 2 specific Ahn Luh announcements:

- The first resort in "early 2015" will be Ahn Luh Zhujiajiao, Shanghai, China. Located at "the picturesque bridges of a historic ancient Shanghai canal-lined suburb", it houses 35 villas built in traditional Chinese style and includes a museum, library, restaurants and spa and tai chi centre.

- The second one will be Ahn Luh Lanting, Kuaiji mountain in Shaoxing, situated in the Zhejing province 30 minutes from Hangzhou.

Aman Tokyo Stealth Pictures

Today at Aman Tokyo, Otemachi Tower.

The entrance plaque. Still covered, but clearly says "AMAN".

That is one weird place for an Aman. It's a weird place for a luxury hotel, period.

Great work though! I think this will be the first Aman in the middle of a huge city; if so, I guess it's an experiment on their part. I agree that the area it is in is sterile but there is a lot of stuff not far away on the other side of the station. Under 10 mins walk from here to the FS.

Exactly. And it was (I staid there in 2012 when it still was an Aman) the best, Oasis-like luxury hotel in a city - so much space, so big pool, so personal service...

Yes, Gallivanter's Guide also speculated about it more than a year ago (as listed on page 1 of this thread) - it would be great news, if they are really going ahead now!

Hotel Bora Bora just starts the construction 2 days ago. The first phase will be Over Water villa, SPA, then main area. However the whole project won't be open again unless the local government move the resident road to mountain side.

26 March 2014

Dolphin Capital Americas (“DCA”…is Dolphin’s wholly owned subsidiary for investment in the Americas region, which owns…10% of Itacare…DCA has signed a Letter of Intent to acquire one of the largest privately owned islands in the Bahamas (the “Island”...320 hectares...less than 30 miles from Nassau and 150 miles from the United States. The island already has basic infrastructure and utilities, a paved airstrip of 4,000 feet, 26 miles of roads and a complex of historical buildings... DCA would repay...outstanding loans ... Island’s owners would own approximately 15% of DCA...DCA is currently engaged in other discussions for the acquisition of, or merger with additional projects

The construction of the four new hotel beach pavilions adjacent to the Amanzoe Beach Club with direct beach access, is progressing on time and on budget. - bahamas (exuma) - jean michel gathy article mentions potential project >

APRIL 10, 2014

Jean-Michel Gathy...when we meet in London he has flown in that morning from Singapore, where he has an office, and is leaving next day to see a client about a project in the Exumas, the most idyllic part of the Bahamas

Aman Resorts in Gabon – a property in the capital Libreville "for when you fly in"; a resort on the coast; and a tented camp in the Loango National Park, on what he calls "the hippo beach: the only place in the world where hippos surf!"

forthcoming Cheval Blanc hotel at Aswan in Egypt. Idyllically located on an islet in the Nile

Aman Canal Grande…he opted for cool minimalist furniture from B&B Italia that doesn’t try to compete with the lavish original décor of the Renaissance palazzo. But nevertheless, the muted silk damasks on the walls are Rubelli, the glass is hand-blown Murano, and the paintings belong to the current generation of the palazzo’s owners

Slavonian oak furniture at Aman Sveti Stefan

It was Aman’s founder, Adrian Zecha, who first built one of his designs. Zecha had been shown some plans Gathy had drawn up for Sonu Shivdasani, the founder of Six Senses and Soneva resorts, who was planning his first hotel in the Maldives. Gathy’s design was never realised, but "Adrian said, 'That’s it! I want to know this guy'." It was 1989, and Mr Zecha started Aman Resorts the year before. "So I went to see him, and he said: 'Jean-Michel, I want to work with you. I have a project for you. Nobody else wants to do it. So it’s yours!' And so he just appointed me to design Amanwana... I’m still very attached to it. It feels like home," he says. "I go every two or three years
