Bon voyage Macmyday. This is a lovely trip. I hope Amanpulo doesn't look too simple after those OTT Kardashian-style digs like Laucala and Iniala. I'm sure it won't.

Shame that I'll have just missed you! I spent Christmas '15 at The Siam; wonderful, but for a European, did not feel particularly Christmassy.

Iniala, fair enough, but I think I've given the wrong impression on Laucala, as that is far more modest in comparison - excluding the pool. I last stayed in Amanpulo 2 years ago to the day, so do hope that all my fond memories stay in tact after the second visit; after Amanzoe it is the only resort I've ever returned to. I decided to do a last minute upgrade to a 1 bedroom villa, so that should make it an interesting comparison to other resorts I've been in the last 12 months.

I don't expect Reindeers and Santa in Thailand, at least not in the hotels! Phew!

Which day are you leaving Krung Thep?

Lucky days, as the MO has managed half of that for you:

Have already left and am currently in Trisara (hiding indoors from all the mosquitos). Will be in HK 26 > 29th.

The vegeterian Menu at "Park 45" (restaurant of the "Grand Hotel" in Cannes) is usually very good.

You'd probably enjoy "Palme D'or" (Hyatt Martinez in Cannes). The dishes / plates are very original and made by the chef and his wife.

On the other side, Robuchon in Monaco is very good, better than Paris.

If I understand correctly, FS has no real / decent sand beach ? Not suitable for kids ?
