HELP - getting From Z to FCL (B) to C
Hi
I am usually pretty good w FRA but not with connections (I usually leave and go to FCT)
I will probably arrive at the Z gates and then go over to the FCL at the B gates before my 380 flight from C
1. What is easiest way to get from Z to FCL at B gates. Can I use tunnel? Or is train better? Which way has less security check points?
2. Going from FCL @ B gates to A380 @ C gates. Will they drive me like they do from FCT or do I need to walk
Any help much appreciated
Note: I don't mind going thru pass port control if it's faster but would like to cut out as many security lines as PSBL. I heard if I take the tunnel from Z to B I have to go thru passport control twice but no security???

The tunnel between A and B is in Schengen. So if you want to go from a Z gate to the FCL B via the tunnel you will have to go through passport control twice. You should not need to go through security in theory but it's a long time since I've gone from a Z (A non-Schengen in those days) gate to the FCL B (via FCL A ) and I don't know how it works these days.
If you take the Skyline train from Z to B, you don't need to go through passport control but you will almost certainly have to clear security.
I'd go to the FCT if I want to avoid hassle especially Pier B security.

I can answer question 2. If your flight is departing from a C gate they will drive you to your plane from the FCL B.

Thanks. I guess I'll never see the FCL due to laziness

That's what I always do. I've been to the FCT probably 30 times but NEVER been to the FCL. If its that bug a hassle getting from Z - B then I'll probably go to the FCT again. I kinda wanted to try the FCL so I could watch the aircraft and take a walk if I want to around the terminal. That was my plan the last 2 times but when I landed I just kinda said the hell with it and went to the FCT (again)

Here's a picture I took in the FCL B last year. You feel you are in an airport and not in a glorified bus station.

The FCL B is certainly very pleasant and I don't want to deter you from enjoying the nice view of the apron and Pier A from there simply because of my experience with Pier B security last year. Security check itself wasn't too obtrusive or unpleasant. It was the fact that I shouldn't have had to re-clear security and the whole thing was such a waste of time.

Since I usually travel between Europe and Asia, I don't get to Z often. On a few occasions I went from Z to B, I either took the Skyline train or cleared passport control by gate Z25 and walked through the tunnel to B. I can't remember if I had to clear security after the tunnel but it was some time ago and arrangements may have changed.
The picture in my previous post was taken last May during my 10 min visit to the FCL B as described here. It was the last time I visited the FCL B or went through transfer security in B, but perhaps it's time to give them a try again.

I had the deep joy of Non-Schengen transfer security in B the other day. It's a bit faster than transfer security Non-Schengen-Schengen in B, but that's not saying much.

BTW, have you actually seen passport control just inside non-Schengen bus arrival gates in operation?

No, I have never seen that passport control in operation. I had a special treat the other day, I was on the one LH BHX inbound and we drew up at the A gate I was departing from. Still got the nice tour of the tarmac of course.

P.S. I'm confused. Aren't there two escalators? I know the security checkpoint on the right at the bottom of the first escalator. I think the loos are at the bottom of the second escalator and I don't think you can turn right there but you can see some security check points behind the glass if you look right. Perhaps I need a trip through FRA to refresh my memory.

I've never turned right there but IIRC there are loos at the bottom of the escalator and a couple of airport employees standing there to deter anyone from using the facilities.
Yes, I've had the pleasure as well. Arriving from LHR the plane parked at A42 and my connecting flight departed from A40. And it was raining.

Mine was A26 and going from A26 - all that walk when I could have been fighting for a seat in the SEN lounge.
I always love it when they offer priority boarding onto the bus

Really? When you are deplaning? Is it based on status or class of travel?
At least ZRH has the Business Class bus to the terminal. I like the way FAs stand by the door to make sure C pax walk down the steps first and to prevent Y pax from boarding the MB bus.

I think the LX Business Bus is a great innovation and that the powers that be in FRA and MUC should take notice.

ZRH doesn't have priority security based on status though nobody bothers to check your BP, but we are going OT.
