As AMS-FRA is within Schengen zone, so arrival in A and YVR is departing from B, it is a bit of walking, but you should make it without hassle.
One hour is enough time for transfer, without running.

1h is very tight, but not impossible. FRA can be a zoo, another issue is you could arrive at a bus gate and/or depart from a bus gate (happened to me on exactly that flight a while ago, and they started bussing us to the plane 35min before departure) Another issue is that there are no alternative flights to YVR, so if you missed your flight you´d have to be rerouted via YYC/YYZ/YUL/YOW/etc.
Have you considered the FRA-YYC flight?
As a SEN I´d probably give it a shot, but you shouldn´t be surprised if something goes wrong. (MCT is 45min, so LH would that´s extremely unrealistic)

Lufthansa actually has a good track records to wait for people on intercontinental flights if connecting flights to FRA are delayed. Taking that into account and if you know FRA 1 hour should be fine, although on an award ticket this adds a bit extra spice. On award tickets i always like to have extra time available.

Thanks guys!
I see that the early morning flight is now available, so will try to switch that over instead.
I like to be early just in case , you know, Murphy's Law. And with my luck, that'll probably be the first winter storm to hit AMS!

I transferred through FRA last year doing MUC-FRA-YYC
a few days before Christmas and it was a complete zoo.
I gave myself 2 hours to make the transfer and that
was fairly stressful.

My wife missed her flight both ways IAH-FRA-AMS-FRA-IAH, when she had close to 2 hours connection time. I will be very worried with anything less than 90 mins in FRA in winter.

Guy Betsy- it is pretty tight- is there no other option? If no- I would gamble- and understand worst case scenario is you will spend a night at the FRA Sheraton.

After reading the beginner's guide, I'm now a bit worried about my first LH flt today that connects through FRA. I'm in C class LAX-FRA-ZRH so it sounds like I will have to take the Skytrain to my connecting gate? I have an hour, 20min so this shouldn't be a problem if my inbound is on time? Thanks.
I'll just follow the signs, right, and not think about the logic.

According to lufthansa.com the LAX flight is likely to be an apron arrival and pax will be bused to International Arrivals B, though this could change. If you arrive at International Arrivals B (marked as BNS on lufthansa.com), follow the signs to A1-42 which will take you up escalators to passport control. Go through passport control and follow the signs for A1-42 which should take you through security and the tunnel connecting B and A. Your ZRH flight is likely to depart from an A gate (e.g. A24 or A26).
1 hr 20 mins should be enough if your incoming flight is on time but provided you are on a single ticket they will put you on the next flight should you miss your connection.
On some days the LAX flight may arrive at a lower C gate. In that case the signs might direct you to the Skyline train.

I consider connecting in MUC as too boring!
If by any chance your flight arrives at an A gate, go through passport control at the end of the concourse (one by A65 is best but there's another one at the other end), through security and down the escalator to A Schengen gates (A1-42).

I guess it will be anticlimatic on the return! Thanks for your help and have noted all instructions.

Having connected recently at FRA I have the following observations:
(1) When arriving from US in the morning, be prepared for a long wait at the security checkpoint. It was .5-1 hour in line at 9am, there were not enough metal detectors open. At 6am it was a little better particularly if you were one of the first off.
(2) The tower lounge was pretty disappointing. Both the new business lounges (A and B terminals) are only marginally different from the old ones. The food and seating is the same, the showers are nice but still lack sufficient ventilation which means you need another shower after you get dressed thanks to the heat The worst part is lack of seats to stretch out/sleep for those who have come off long flights.
