WOW, what a thread...I've scanned it, but surely can't read everything.
I saw some earlier posts about not bothering with the FCT if you have less than a 2-hour layover. Ours is scheduled for 1:50 at FRA, coming in from ORD and connecting to VCE (next week). I really want to see the FCT, but if those 10 mins make a difference, I don't want to waste a bunch of time running around FRA Airport. (Of course, if our flight is late, we will bypass it...If we're early, we'll surely do it).
An FTer mentioned to me about letting the ORD-FRA flight's purser know about our desire to visit the FCT and he said they might be able to have someone there to assist us upon arrival to get us there in a speedy manner...I did not read anything about trying that in this thread. (This is my first trip to FRA, so I know NOTHING about the airport).
Thanks!

I have a 2:20 connection next week. Coming from IAD-FRA on an LH747 and heading onward to MUC on some sort of small Airbus. I'm planning on using the FCT...just following the signs to get there. (I hope there are signs!)

Yes once landside it is a short walk (or wait for car transfer arranged at first check in counter).

And it is NOT a 5 minute walk, at least not until you're actually OUTSIDE.
But 1h50 is still plenty of time to go if you haven't been. If not, just go to the FCL. But it's awesome if you have a remote gate, which for VCE you probably will. So, actually, do go.

I am so unfamiliar with Europe it's not even funny. 4X a year to China and other points in Asia, I've been to Europe exactly ONCE in my life (that was on UA to LHR in F, connecting to CDG on BMI, and UA had a airport cart waiting for me upon my arrival to take me to the BDI terminal--my only experience ever with landing in Europe from the USA. So, pardon my complete ignorance.)
We're fully clearing Customs and Immigration in FRA, and going to the landside of the airport?...Then basically 'checking back in again', going to the First Class Check-in as if we just pulled up in a taxi? Do we claim our luggage and re-check like we do in the USA? Again, pardon my stupidity. I just don't want to 'enter' Germany then have issues 'exiting' Germany again a few minutes later.

I suppose I'm going to have to visit the F check-in desk with my checked bag immediately after clearing customs, so I can ask them... I just don't want them to immediately call a car for me if it's faster to walk. Frankly, as long as it's not raining, I'll enjoy going for a bit of a walk...

No. You should already have bags tagged through. The F check in area is where the shuttle to FCT is arranged, or you can walk. If you don't already have onward boarding pass then can get this printed at FCT (or F check in if you go there).

Just follow the signs for exit - up one level from baggage claim for the check-in (if taking the shuttle across or want to walk on the upper roadway instead of lower).

OK, just so I'm clear... I apologize in advance for what is a very basic n00b question:
I'm flying MCI-IAD-FRA-MUC. UA,LH,LH. I will check one bag at MCI.
Where will I see this bag again?
I had assumed on the baggage carousel at FRA, where I'd physically carry it through the "Nothing to Declare" door and then immediately hand it back to LH for the internal flight. But from reading here, it sounds like I might not see the bag in FRA at all.

You will not see your bag again until MUC.
Once you land, check your connection time. If you do not have at least 90 mins, then just go to the FCL.
If you decide to go to the FCT, follow the signs to baggage claim. You will first go thru immigrations. You will walk thru baggage claim and out past customs, into the landside of arrivals.
Go upstairs to the LH check-in area, and look for the First Class check-in "room." It is a small room, aside from the general terminal area. When I arrived there 2 weeks ago, there were probably 25=30 people in line....a line that snaked out thru the terminal
Go in and ask one of the agents to call the transfer bus to the FCT. Within a few minutes, a driver will be there to pick you up--wait in the FC check-in room. He will escort you outside; the van normally parks (illegally, but as a VIP!) right in front of the door. It's a 4 minute drive to FCT, unless you have to pick-up another passenger.
From arrival at my gate to my arrival in the FCT is usually 20-40 minutes, depending on the crowds at immigrations.
Check-in and security at the FCT takes about 90 seconds, unless there are other pax who arrive with you on the transfer--in which case it might take 3 mins.
Above, I offered the 90 mins limit, just in case there are crowds at immigrations which eat into your transfer time--then, just go to the FCL upstairs.
They take care of everything from there.....until they come find you when it's time to board your connecting flight.

Flying F from GRU-FRA, connecting C from FRA-LED
Dear Specialists
I'm arriving from GRU to FRA in F on 27.9.07 and will connect 3 hours later to LED in C. I hope somebody can answer the following questions:
1. Do I have access to the FCT in that case?
2. Will they pick me up at the arrival gate or do I need to go to the FCT by walking?
3. Will they drive me to the connection flight to LED?
4. Any other informations I will need or something to care on?
Regards
mbr
